THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES

When he is on 800k a year at the Dragons, I'm surprised we have any room under the cap to keep him.
Just to keep things in perspective, before anyone leads a procession to Tariq Sims house to demand his burning at the stake, it's not his fault. He'd have to be out of his mind not to accept a deal of 800k a year. Blame Baldy McGregor, not Tariq Sims.

Something everyone is overlooking is the fact Melbourne offered him anything at all. Dragons pack certainly needs some young faces but I want to know which faces they will be. Because the club refused to offer Sims anything at all but hyper-successful Melbourne believe he still has 2 good years in him after this year.

Dragons release veteran forward early

St George Illawarra Dragons have released forward Daniel Alvaro from the remainder of his contract to take up a new deal in the UK Super League.

“St George Illawarra front-rower Daniel Alvaro has requested and been granted a release from the remainder of his playing contract to take up an opportunity in the English Super League,” the club confirmed in a statement. “Alvaro joined the Dragons ahead of the 2021 NRL Telstra Premiership season and played 19 NRL games for the Red V.

“The Dragons thank Daniel for his contribution to St George Illawarra and wish him all the best in his future endeavours.” 28-year-old Alvaro scored six tries in 114 games for the Eels, Warriors and Dragons since his debut in 2015.

Good news. He was never going to bother the NRL team this year but I'm more interested in who is going take his place in the top 30.

Looking forward to seeing his highlights package. (sarcasm)

He did a job as best he could last year when the team was in a salary cap mess with a severe lack of forwards. This year he was superfluous to the teams needs. I wish him well in the ESL. But I'm most interested in who is going to replace him in the top 30. I believe next week or the following week (is it from round 10 or after round 10?) the following are going to be available anyway:
  • Shalom O’Ofou
  • Josh Coric
  • Jackson Shereb
  • Michael Molo
  • Bailey Antrobus
So I doubt it'll be any of them. I mean, why waste a top 30 spot for only 1 week?

I don't think they can choose all of them. I think they can only choose 2 or 3 from that group.

And I think it's after round 10, not for round 10. The only lower graders screaming for selection ASAP are Sloan and Connor Muhleisen. Neither of whom are likely to be selected unless Macca or Mbye are injured.
