In terms of cup... I'm glad Ramsey is keeping his #1 jersey too, Sloan on the wing.. harsh for SFinau, but seems like hes on his way out anyway.. esp with Schiller (or whoever) supposedly about to come in.

Hi Rev

have you seen or heard that we are looking at signing James Schiller from the Knights? I know that Dom Young has gone back to the Knights and maybe as a result the Knights could be freeing up Schiller to go elsewhere.

Rumours were that some knights winger was coming our way, probably before next match.. all ties in with Young returning.. we think its Schiller, but still waiting for it to be confirmed...

Realised Lawson isn't named either, tbh I'd be pumping games into him. I think we've been poor with his development, we carried him for games as 18th man so he couldn't play nsw cup. Looks like he'll be named v Eels but imo this is another missed opportunity to get experience & development into him.

Jersey Flegg Notes (34-34 Draw):
  • The most stacked the Flegg side has been all year, Hammoud finally back and into 5/8, TPH pushed back to fullback, WIlliams is back, Treweek, Hutchinson and Liu dropped back, Hjaltason off the bench for his 1st game of the year, actually Heidke not here actually, or in NSW Cup.
  • First try was Reed chipping aerial for his 2nd rower in Miller, too easy.
  • Tigers first try was Williams not trusting his centre and being 'just' burnt by his opposition winger.. dissapointing but must also say he did chase down a break away earlier in the game from a loose TPH pass.
  • Our 2nd try was another aerial assault from Reed, right on the opponents tryline, Lyric gets up beautifully to steal the catch and somehow get an offload away for another Miller try..amazing execution honestly.
  • Our 3rd try was a backline movement where they had us covered but Afu busted through and put Williams away for an easy first try in forever since hes been fit for selection.
  • Our 4th try was an odd one.. Tobias Miller.. ill mention his first name cause his run opened this one up, not even on his side of the field... swerving left and right and looked like he would get his hattrick, but caught at the end and offloads for his opposite 2nd rower in Treweek to crash over.
  • Tigers pulled a try out of nowhere.. dropped bomb from TRumble and they managed to squeeze over on the play.. bugger.. but still 22-10.
  • We withstood a fair bit of pressure here but this was a reed pass that ended up in front of TPH, he was lucky to catch it.. but in moving to catch it, it sort of made the defence hold a fraction of a second, allowing him to throw a long ball to TRumble with an acrobatic put down in the right corner. 28-10 converted...few minutes till half time.
  • Really disappointing to let in a try on half time.. dropped bomb by Lyric, sort of was falling backwards but no real pressure.. and they crashed in the left corner, 28-14 Half Time..
  • 2nd half and we let one in early again, this one was a rly nice backline movement though and our spacing was just all wrong with Miller out of position and Reed ended up with space both sides of him... he had to take the halfback which left enough space for a great 2nd row run on the other side of him which Lyric couldn't cover. 28-20.
  • Tigers r full of beans now.. get a penalty and march up field and crash over again ffs.. 28-24, its game on.
  • Next set another penalty for a Hutchinson Hip Drop jesus.. Williams has the ball stolen out of his hands and the ref gives the ball to the Tigers.. bad call but we defend a set on our line thank god... but fark kick pressure and Hammoud kicks it out on the full, tigers are just rolling us at this stage, their forwards....
  • Ref is pinging us for everything and letting several high shots go on our boys.. very annoying esp at home..
  • Finally after absorbing set after set after set.. Williams takes an intercept and knees pumping almost goes 80m.. caught just 10m out by the tigers fullback (red-head kid is a gun have seen him in lower grades), but we spread it and easily score on the next play thru Rumble. 34-24, 12mins to go.. big turnaround moment after being dominated all half... Reeds goalkicking is a huge advantage.
  • 1on1 strip on Afu after the kickoff.. and Tigers easily strip us for numbers to go in untouched in the corner, but its called forward.. absolute bombed try by the tigers... we get a penalty off the back and Afu drops the ball ffs this kid kills me.. 8mins left.
  • We defend it and Fagalilo gets his hand knocked passing from dummy half and gives them the ball back.. their fullback gets a crazy flick away (was forward but not called), just cant get of our own way.. 34-28. 4mins left..
  • Ref gives a crap call to give them 6-again after they knock it on.. and we hold them out a few times till a clever kick into our ingoal and they score under the sticks 34-34, 2mins to go.
  • We almost lose it here, going for a short dropoff that wasnt short, giving them a perfect chance for a fieldgoal but thankfully we just pressure them enough to prevent it.. a couple of heart attack moments follow.. but game is over 34-34, disappointing but in the end lucky not to lose it too... both sides are lieing on the ground and cant move.
Couple of player thoughts:
  • Williams still looks a little lose in defence but had some rly good moments in between, got tested in the air a few times and mostly came up well.. Hammoud had some moments but also gonna take a while for him to get back up to speed I suspect.. and Hjaltason only had some brief time at hooker, didnt rly see anything of interest again after his long time out.

That last 10 min was very poor
