I disagree, if that is one of your strengths you dont lose that ability, you may be a bit rusty but you need to reintroducing that skill back into your game.
Its not burdening him if he has to do that in his role. How is doing his role going to negatively affect him? Thats his job, its a skill he has.
The only reason that I can guess why he has left that part of his game in his bag of tricks is as a result of instructions from the coach.
But the coach in his interview before the game highlighted his running game as one of his greatest strengths and one which the coach wanted to use.
In relation to his kicking game and being in position to get the ball on the 5th that is nonsensical to me. Good 7s dont get caught with ball in hand on your 5th.
You dont even, well I never had an attacking structure with that situation in my play book, and I would be surprised if that has changed.
So against the rabbits, 7 runs for 47m, against the Dogs 7 runs for 40m and we just lose both close games. I am saying if he at least doubles that stat it increases the chances of us winning.
Until he runs the ball and places defenders in two minds our attacking structures will remain predictable and defensible simply because every man and his dog knows Flanagan doesn't have a running game.
So we will agree to disagree amicably on this point.

Correct that is his role, but that doesn't mean he doesn't demand the ball in hand on the 3rd and 4th play and in those plays , he plays eyes up footy and runs if the opportunity is there to do so.

Savala is the biggest myth in rugby league. He’s another Flanagan but he’s 6 foot 3 and has a big boot
Can’t create opportunities for himself + slow and he’s playing behind a great pack with studs around him
If it was up to me if LKT shows in Reggie’s that his defence has improved over 3-4 weeks and Kyle offers nothing in first grade I’d be soft benching Kyle so he’s still technically in the game day 19 but doesn’t play unless a half or hooker is hurt

I dont care about creating for himself (though he did do that in the trials)
He is better at getting the ball to the right areas on the field ... passes/runs/kicks better than Flano and defends as well as him too ...
Kyle cannot create for either himself or others.

Plus in a years time when he would be here Reed IMO will be ready to go in first grade
We’re just in an awkward spot at the moment because everyone knows Kyle’s not good enough to play as a half in the NRL but Shane’s gonna play him there anyway this year. His lack of threat is accentuated by the lack of strike at fullback to cover his deficiencies
LKT probably signs elsewhere for more opportunity at the end of this year (If we extend Jasais Ah Kee then I’m happy to let LKT go)
We are in a tough spot because we’ve just signed Atkinson on 500k a year and we’ve got a stud halfback coming through so DA and Flanno must be thinking fullback is the spot they need to sign a Marquee but who’s available now that Koula’s extended with manly and Bula prefers to stay with the tigers

It's true Kyle is tenacious and tries hard, as Flanno says but it's obvious he's not good enough for first grade. Everyone knows it. What can be done with a coach who continues to pick him anyway?

That is why i like Savala ... would come in, do a job (better than Kyle) and is not going to block Reed when he is ready. I disagree, i think he does "move the needle" not by a lot granted .. but when you lose by a point it doesnt have to move far at all.
Even a loan deal for the season or two that DCE is at the roosters would have worked in our favour if it could have been negotiated.
Totally get that Savala is not a top tier 7 .. he is just a better 7 thank kyle to marginally improves us.
Kyle still plays because there is no one else.

Savala even on a 12mth loan would have been great for us.. even if frees kyle up to be the #14 backup.. disappointed Savala essentially opted for reserve grade... esp if DCE goes and extends.. that said hes a big body maybe he plays 13 longterm..
Also disappointed we didnt land the fullback we were after.. or the winger, throw in a drinkwater and taulagi, something like that and the rest of the flanno can stay as it is.. but there are a few more weapons.. but there were legit guys on the market that were dirt cheap like Wilson or Stonestreet, they seem huge upgrades on what we have...

Our style of play would suggest that we will have multiple injuries towards the back end of the season, unfortunately with the players we have we have no other option and thats the way Flanno likes it. As
Mug Fan has said this bash and grind style of play will lead us astray down the track. We all want speedier backs etc, whats the use of having them if one of our halves cant create anything. He defended great yesterday I'll give him that, but whats his primary role ?

That right there are 2 young fellas that are our future. The passion shown in this picture is something that we have lacked under the previous coach and cpt. Personally I am looking forwards already to next season.
