Round 4 v Titans

Morgan

SGI NSW Cup
From start to finish we just had no direction particularly with our attack. Again too many mistakes at critical times allowing the Titans off the hook and thus allowing them to gain more confidence knowing that they had our measure with our poor attack.

I have said so many times that we need speed and someone who can take the game to another level. In my humble opinion none and I mean none of our players today deserved to be playing first grade. Gutho was again ineffective and you can go all the way up the numbers and see that we were not a team that would be hard to beat but easy beats in the end.

Flanagan has lost the plot and the pressure is telling. He will be having nightmares and while we have criticized Kyle a lot, I hope he gets over the injury but not too early as we now need new half pairings. I am not totally convinced that Atkinson is the answer to being in the team. He has not penetrated much at all in attack and really hasn't set any games on fire like a great Dragon would. Maybe put him in his best position of 5/8th? Flanno fell in love with Atko after Atko had one good game with the Sharks and couldn't wait to get him signed to play for us in over 12 months after signing him. I don't see that he has much to offer to be honest.

Tonight's game was the worst game I have watched for a long time. Both teams played poorly but we played worst.

Dragons play the Cowboys then Sea Eagles both at home. I don't think that there will be many fans at the ground to watch the games if tonight's efforts is any indication of what our performances will be.

I am so disappointed with the Dragons - another year down the drain even though there is still a long way to go. I cannot see them winning many games at all - maybe a couple.
Amen! Agree on all points 100%.

Tomorrow I'm going to watch the replay, why? Its because that's what I do. No use going on half cocked or trying to make excuses, but its what you may have missed the first time.

At the ground sitting just under the coaching boxes gives you a different perspective of the game live.

What I saw live was not 1st grade standard. I think we broke the record for sideways runs.

We looked very pedestrian in attack with no attacking structures tonight. There appeared to be a lack of leadership and lack of on field talk. I think I saw 1 linebreak.

What was wrong with Holmes defence tonight? Our halves definitely do not run the ball, 10 runs between them for 67m . Atkinson was ordinary to my eye missed a heap of tackles tonight. There were a lot of missed tackles tonight 3 which led directly to tries., 2 by Leilua, in total we missed 33.

Buchanan was poor tonight, Sloan scored a try otherwise went missing in action.

8 straight losses counting last year , that my friend has wooden spoon written all over it ....... Nothing new here seen it coming , our so called purchases a year older a year slower ........ A coach that coaches like he is still stuck in 2016 when he won a Premiership ......... Instead of getting better they get worse every year ........

this game has clinched it for me and I’m so checked out now, focused on the cup/flegg/pathways and that’s about it

Won’t pay any mind to first grade until we act like a serious club and punt this coach into the sun
Ai, I emotionally checked out around Rd1 (it really helped my sanity), I watch first grade, today on radio and watched a bit while cooking dinner but im not emotionally invested.. I expect to lose.. I feel like we will need to be perfect to compete with even the worst teams in the comp.. and thats not a strategy that is sustainable.

There isnt a path out of this for 2026.. we let guys like Sandon Smith and decent wingers get picked up for unders by other clubs because we are all in on Flannos faves.. we cant fix that anytime soon.. plus the guys we let go (or didnt try hard enough to keep) in Latu, Tamale, SFinau, Bostock.. those sorts of talents take a long time to come through.. but this is the blueprint Flanno wanted.. he doesnt value youth over experience.. he was right 10-20yrs ago.. but the game values youth and energy now.. he is not adapting.. or he will do so 2yrs after other coaches are.. meaning we will always be on the backfoot.

The chances of us losing to the Cows and Manly at home seem pretty slim.. but if we do lose 2 more I think coach sacking could be atleast being discussed by the board.. this is the softest part of the draw.. someone needs to save Flanno from himself, he wont admit hes out of his depth in the modern game. He also may lose the dressing room soon.. at the very least they will stop giving 100%.

I nearly threw up watching the attack tonight, absolutely dreadful.

No direction and didn’t look like there was a plan or trying to get to points on the field

Just wing it and see what happens kind of stuff

People wondering why our young players come in and don’t brain it like other clubs, the environment and quality of the side + coaching matter immensely

I am sure that there is talent amongst several of our players but that talent ain't being used effectively. The whole squad needs to go back to basics and that is learn to catch, learn to pass, learn to tackle, learn to run, learn to kick, learn to back up, learn to attack, learn to defend, learn to score tries, learn to support one another, learn better game plans.

Our coaches are generally hit and miss at the moment. They lack ability to coach effectively in the fields to which they are assigned.

We certainly have become a very boring and now very depressing team to watch. Most on here could see this scenario becoming the reality ages ago.

Kyle has been pretty bullet-proof injury wise.. not too bad with concussions also.. but that was a very very serious one today, someone said he was out cold for up to 5 minutes.. blood out his eyes.. I am genuinely worried for his health.. we see head clashes from time to time and they r always bad but this one was something else.. and could happen to literally any player..

In terms of the team, I suppose LKT and Atkinson will be the combo next week.

Pretty bullet-proof? It's incredible in a bad way how he has been so bullet-proof.
