Agree. Most off contract with no certainty of a future in the game and are playing accordingly. Reluctant re Blocker, but saving judgement on Lawrie, Holmes and Suli for the time being. Holmes is better than he has been showing. He is our top money earner and prob thinks he is letting down the side by not playing up to his salary standard. Deano should demote the rest to finish their remaining time in Ressies, even Flegg that sure could use some big bodies, like Kerr and Guler.

If Flanno had been in charge it would probably been the same, with the exception that Kyle would have played. Flanno had two attempts at Anzac Day and both were hidings.

I would argue they were carbon copies. The dragons were destroyed up the middle and the halves ran riot.

Next year Drinkwater and Sami are 2 and really hoping Jesse Williams comes back and has a big second half of the season in the lower grades. Other than that, Rumble looks promising, doesn't he? Getting bigger, already tall and fast.

Agree with you re not far away - move Val to the wing and bring in another centre and we are golden. I think Fale is a good centre with a bit of consistency

I laughed at your comment that Dean Young could be the first interim coach to be sacked. Classic. lol

Our next 6 games or so are also on the difficult side. We could be 14 loses 0 wins after our first 14 games of the season. That would probably cruel Dean Young's chances of being our head coach next year or getting head coaching job at another NRL club. He would probably have to go to England and try his hand there, if any of them would take him.

Celebrating scoring a try when one is being flogged senseless, is frustrating to watch.

I love our nrl players, but there’s so many without any shame.

It’s not going to help, but I’m not reaching for the draino, because rorters played extremely well. The heartbreak is looking at their roster.

I’m not alleging any conspiracy, I don’t go with that, but compare the teams.

Then heavens above, every decent player or young upstart is linked to them.

I say SGI to start the dark ops to snare some of their obviously competent officials.

That said, recent recruiting has been tidy. Swapsys Drinkmeister needs to settle in Sydney early. Learn to avoid travelling into the shire by accident.

My prediction is if we beat Newcastle, they will get the contracts written up for Dean on a 2.5yr contract (maybe 3.5).

If we lose.. and given we surely dont beat Penrith.. thats the 4 weeks he supposedly has.. surely we arent signing him with 0 wins... unless.. were just happy to see an improvement in the squad in general...

I find it hilarious that they could potentially decide our next head coach based on if young wins or loses the next couple of games

It’s not like there’s a massive sample size of his defensive coaching as an assistant to go off….

If it was up to me I’d steer clear of an old boy coach but sadly it appears as though it’s going to end up that way

Agree but now that he is interim, its much harder for Watsford and WIN to persuade the usual suspects to remove him... i.e. if there is any hint that its working, I think Dean retains the job.

That's why I'm hoping Dean is either diabolically bad... or.... he is clearly able to bring this group together and play as a team again (even if there are no wins), but whichever it is.. I hope he does it really quickly... cause honestly I'm not sure saints fans have another 3yrs in them with the wrong coach... i.e. if we are yet to see rock bottom.. I cant even fathom what that could looks like for us...
