The Penrith era is over. Aside from Cleary who will miss at least most of the next year if the reports on the injury are accurate, Martin, Edwards, Yeo and Leota are sliding. If Penrith start being one of the top teams again, it will be with a only a few of the team which lost yesterday.

Yep lets hope they didn't play their GF this week, much like the Phins in their game. But yes all credit goes to them, wooden spooners to grand finalists is no mean feat, Obrien must be squirming in his seat right now.

Holbrook is a freak though, not many coaches re-invent football strategy (instead of copying the rest + trying to 'run hard tackle hard' harder than your opponent.. which only works for a short period), I very much doubt we will get that from Deano, his only shot is if he picks a gun assistant I reckon.

We WILL have the players to beat the Knights. Even if the Knights get beaten by the Roosters in the GF most of their players values would be on the rise meaning their salary cap could be affected and that players either take a pay cut or leave and others shed. They ended up fitter than the Warriors and Panthers in both games. They most probably will have a let down for the next game after winning on the weekend.
O'Brien had the players but did not have the coaching nous like Holbrook who had an outstanding few years in the Super League and if given more leeway at the Titans could have got that team in the finals at least.
We have good halves now and with Reed, Hodges, Metcalf on our books we have good back ups.

Almost beat them this year but they were without Ponga. An absolutely terrible game but we were probably the better team.

Yep, deano looks up to Bennett who plays a conservative style & Craig Young. Adam having/developing great assistant coaches is crucial. Great balance in his style of play. Simple yet effective defence & controlled attacking footy. Pleasure to watch, especially compared to our style.
Big games show the importance of match winning players, guys who can change the momentum by themselves. Best & gagai did it with defence, smith with footy iq & ponga with leadership.

If you want to see 2 class PC's just watch the Panthers and Knights. You can see why these coaches are a cut above the rest. I'm yet to determine where we stand with DY, maybe after a full season I will.

Maybe in a perfect world, we'd have one good, young, aggressive about scoring points assistant, like I think Talau is and one older, more conservative coach. Also hand DA a lot of power. I really like what he has done with recruitment and retention in only a short time.
