I know we have DA and thank god for that, what would be our plan B if he goes ? Surely we cant just play musical chairs with these guys and millions of bucks. Do we have prospects in recruiting managers, has DA got anyone under his wing showing him the ropes or do we take pot luck if he goes.

Hopefully in his 2 years, we had some people learn from him. The price for the competent recruitment managers seems to be rising fast.

Every person has a price - the very best of course demands the most. Anderson is one of the best in my opinion - we were able to secure his services from the Roosters possibly for a bit more than he was paid by the Roosters and even though he was head of recruitment for them from 2019 to 2025 they were prepared to let him go as they had signed Canberra's recruitment manager, Joel Carbone.

Daniel Anderson’s decision to leave the Sydney Roosters for the St George Illawarra Dragons was primarily driven by a broader professional opportunity and front-office restructuring, rather than reports of a pure salary play.
The key factors that influenced his move include:
  • An Expanded Portfolio: At the Roosters, Anderson served strictly as the Head of Recruitment. The Dragons offered him a much larger, elevated role as the Head of Recruitment and Pathways, giving him overarching authority to overhaul both the top-tier roster and the club's junior development structures.
  • Front-Office Reshuffle at the Roosters: The Roosters opened the door for his exit when they signed former Canberra Raiders recruitment specialist Joel Carbone, which created structural changes within the Tri-colours' recruitment team.
  • The Chance to Lead a Massive Rebuild: The Dragons made Anderson their No. 1 target as part of an aggressive front-office shakeup initiated by new CEO Tim Watsford. Anderson was given the keys to resurrect a struggling club and change its narrative, a challenge he immediately capitalised on by leading a massive signing spree.
