I know what the media reports are saying but I'm not sure I believe them. I don't think there's a lot of interest unless he is going to play hooker. No doubt some clubs want to sign him but not for a huge amount of money. I'd guess not more than 800K which isn't huge money for a halfback but about what the best hookers get.
If Hunt moves on and both Sullivan and Herring bomb out, god help us. But then again if Hunt stays on big money, god help us. So not much to lose if Hunt moves on.
Outstanding prop but are props worth 1mil a season? I don't think anyone but a top quality playmaker is worth that much.
The best forwards get 1mil a season these days.
If any forward is worth that much, it's surely Haas. I'm not sure Taumololo is worth that much and David Fifita isn't.
If he provided the same output over 80min, he'd be worth a mil a year.
Payne Haas would be the enforcer our engine room craves. Not too hard to see, tho, that the Front Office dont wanna lose Hunt so it wont happen and we dont get the big bopper or any other top tier prop.
Other clubs have no trouble signing marquee playmakers and very good enforcers.
I we can get him playing confidently and consistently he'd be a top buy for us. Has the size for a prop or a damaging edge back rower. I saw a sample of his ability in the Manly game when he burst onto a pass busted the line with a combination of power and a slick fend then showed surprising speed to race 50 to score . That six pointer gave the Titans the buffer they needed to win the game.
Hook has recruited very good enforcers. McGuire and F. Molo......

Tyson Frizzel was recruited from Cronulla but I think he made his debut with us so not sure if that counts.
So in the last 10~12 years, Mitch Rein, Jake Stockwell and Blake Lawrie are only forwards to come though the juniors and play first grade. How depressing is that?
Very depressing but hopefully next year all the following are going to play first grade.
