I hope it's not too early for this thread. Hopefully we get some news about new signings soon but for the moment:

  10. JDB
  11. Su'A
  12. Leilua
  13. Couchman

  14. Couchman
  15. Liddle
  16. Sele or Lawrie
  17. Egan or another one of those highly regarded young forwards. Maybe Latu or Tonga.
Forward pack is well balanced. A couple of big forwards, a couple of fast ones, a couple of workhorses. Including the interchange, a good balance of young and old.
Backline is better than this year too, even without Lomax. Especially if we get a fast winger like Holmes.
Halves might be a problem. Hunt is Hunt but maybe with a skillful partner like LKT, hew can be much better.
Sloan might be a problem as well but hopefully he'll continue to improve. If not, maybe at some stage around halfway into the season Rumble or Ramsey is challenging him. Big ask for both so unlikely but I hope so. There is also Corey Allen who I don't rate very highly but that's just me.

I think we have between 3 to 6 players coming yet..... whether we land some of the bigger names I dont know.. but if we land say a Holmes &/or Talagi.. I mean we have to rethink everything.. .. I think we will need to wait until preseason to know what we have to work with.

If Holmes and Talagi come, I guess Buchanan has another year of NSW Cup and first called up in the event of an injury. Or Talagi fullback, Sloan out. This is a team I think we can be confident about depending on 6 and 7. The rest is a known quantity.

Why do you think RCG and Saifiti are better than JDB and Molo?

I don't see them coming here to play off the interchange, I also thought Molo has underperformed this year. Imo their ceiling is greater than Molo's.

I think Molo is a bench impact fwd similar to Leniu. JDB is a lock but has to play fwd for us. He's also on a 1yr deal so would rather have Sele starting as he'll be with us long term.

I very much doubt both Saifiti and RCG will come and JDB is far better than both and Sele. Though I agree about Molo. I was surprised when Flanno re-signed him.

Still going with Kyle Flanno? Flanno snr is apparently big on stats. He pulled Zac aside at the start of the year and went through his stats and said they are not flattering. Has he seen the stats for Kyle? Try assists, line break assists, lack of missed tackles, how good halves are usually measured?

We have no one better, Marschke is injury prone. LKT has barely started his 1st grade development & we're not targeting a half. Who do you suggest?

I suggest having a look at his stats. If LKT isn't ready next year, have to recruit someone to play 5/8. Simple as that. Flanno said Kyle was signed to play hooker.

Kyle isn't the issue, he's 2/2 without Hunt. Putting that much faith & expectation into LKT at his age is silly. He might become better than Kyle throughout next season but not from round 1. Hunt has killed our halves, I don't want the same thing happening to LKT either. Kyle & his stats are fine considering his usage rate.

Look at his stats.

I said I'd lay off Kyle this week so I'd just say if he's still our 5/8 next year, we are still cannon fodder for the top teams.

Getting a new 5/8th isn't going to change our ability to compete with top teams. This isn't going to be a quick fix.

It'll definitely help. Gotta start somewhere. A bit more speed and youth in the backline will help. Also a bit younger and better forwards all-round. But I'm doubtful about Hunt. He shouldn't have been re-signed. He's been pretty bad this year. Next year he might be diabolical.
