In attack, in theory he would have been a great hooker. Then again, in attack he was a great fullback so who knows. Water under the bridge now. I agree with Morgan in that the main reason for his dismissal was that Sloan is a better allround fullback. Ramsey never got much of a chance at fullback. As far as I remember, he blew his only chance. If Sloan is unavailable, I'd like to see Ramsey get another chance.Dufty has what every coach looks for lighting speed but speed alone can only get you so far. Yes your correct he was playing behind a poor pack but his size and defensive positioning were his archillies heel. Personally I would have loved to see him off the bench as a hooker he would have been a great attacking option problem is the greatly increased defensive workload may have negated that. Obviously coach also believed that
Beleive this or not I dont think Sloane will be the coaches first choice fullback, hope Im wrongIn attack, in theory he would have been a great hooker. I thought that too because he was on a development contract, meaning he couldn't play until I think after round 10. Not sure which round but development players definitely can't play NRL until mid-season. Then in the long interview I posted on another thread, Griffin specifically nominated Ramsey as a fullback. Since then of course Sloan was given a top 30 contract so it seems at this point, Griffin plans to play him at 5/8 and Ramsey at fullback.Beleive this or not I dont think Sloane will be the coaches first choice fullback, hope Im wrong
Surely not we have Amone/ Sullivan playing for that spot . I know when they train they have shadow players but Sloane is a fullback in my bookI thought that too because he was on a development contract, meaning he couldn't play until I think after round 10. Sorry, I messed that up. Meant to say Sloan fullback and Ramsey winger. Amone will be 5/8 though he'd probably also make a good fullback.Surely not we have Amone/ Sullivan playing for that spot . I know when they train they have shadow players but Sloane is a fullback in my book
Drinking too much?Sorry, I messed that up. Meant to say Sloan fullback and Ramsey winger. Amone will be 5/8 though he'd probably also make a good fullback.
Sloanes contract was upgraded from development to top 30 so he is 1st and only choice for fullbackDrinking too much?
Amone at fullback probably isn't a bad option if Sloan were to go down. It all depends on how the combination with Hunt is going. We know both he and Hunt are quality players but whether or not they compliment each other is important.
Sloan is definitely first choice. I'm only thinking of ways to have both Amone and Sullivan in the 17. So if Sloan were injured, it may be an idea to put Amone at fullback and Sullivan 5/8. Hook won't break up a working combination, specially as we have two utility players in the squad.Sloanes contract was upgraded from development to top 30 so he is 1st and only choice for fullback
May be difficult fitting both in unless Ben Hunt is injured but it's a good problem to have.Sloan is definitely first choice. I'm only thinking of ways to have both Amone and Sullivan in the 17. There are other stragglers as well.Someone needs to give Coach Griffin a rocket. Name the team, my good man! It's an important trial but a trial nonetheless. It shouldn't take this long to name the team.
No surprisesNRL late mail: Charity Shield
St George Illawarra coach Anthony Griffin has finalised his team for the Dragons' annual Charity Shield pre-season clash against the South Sydney Rabbitohs at Mudgee's Glen Willow Stadium on Saturday, February 26 (7pm).www.dragons.com.au
Yep. Who is Dean Blore? No surprises
Barring injury it seems certain that will be #1~#7 for round 1. Probably #8~#13 as well. Sims is injured but will be available for round 1 so he or Bird will start from the bench. #14~#17 will be pretty close as well. Doubt Kerr will make the cut so swap him for Sims or Bird and then a shootout between Burgess and J. Hunt and I think that will be the team.Yep. Who is Dean Blore?
1. Tyrell Sloan 2. Cody Ramsey 3. Moses Suli 4. Zac Lomax 5. Mikaele Ravalawa 6. Junior Amone 7. Ben Hunt 8. Aaron Woods 9. Andrew McCullough 10. Blake Lawrie 11. Jack Bird 12. Jaydn Su’A 13. Jack de Belin 14. Francis Molo 15. Josh Kerr 16. George Burgess 17. Michael Molo 18. Tautau Moga 19. Jaiyden Hunt 20. Jackson Ford 21. Jack Gosiewski 22. Mat Feagai 23. Josh McGuire 24. Notice Jackson Shereb and Josh Coric are gone? That's ok, they will both be better in the NSW Cup for this year and then in the top 30 next year. Connor Muhleisen however is ready for NRL now. Judging by last game. He tackles well, passes out of dummy half well. We didn't see his running game but we know Macca lacks a running game so, we won't lose much if anything if for one reason or another, Connor Muhleisen replaces Macca.Barring injury it seems certain that will be #1~#7 for round 1. Blore is a Penrith junior. Depth signing for the halves. Unless Mr. Griffin has a plan to turn him into a lock.
Bird is on the way out. 500k isn't an "insulting" offer but he'll probably be able to get up to 650~700k elsewhere. He'll be on the bench for round 1. Big call by Hook. Bird was really good last year but I'm glad Hook has the guts to ignore media noise and make big decisions.Barring injury it seems certain that will be #1~#7 for round 1. Probably #8~#13 as well. He impressed me from dummy half last week but wouldn't think he was ready for NRLNotice Jackson Shereb and Josh Coric are gone? Why not? Not that I disagree. Just saying, from what I saw, he is already NRL standard. I know it's only one trial game.He impressed me from dummy half last week but wouldn't think he was ready for NRL
