St George Illawarra are on the lookout for a new major sponsor after their three-year, $1.2 million-a-season deal with Squadron Energy ends at the end of this month.
The renewable energy company will step away after 2026, leaving a vacancy on the front of the Dragons’ NRL and NRLW jerseys.

Squadron Energy replaced long-term sponsor St George Bank, leaving the Dragons to seek just their fourth major sponsor in almost three decades.

The Dragons top brass have made it clear they have no plans to short-change their premium front-of-jersey space.

Thanks for reporting this Mug Fan. Wow 3 years with Squadron Energy as our major sponsor gone like it was only yesterday - it did not bring us any luck at all. Twiggy who?

I hope the next major sponsor is a Corporation or Company that will be very much proud to sponsor the RedV St George Illawarra Dragons and help our journey to be the Mighty Dragons once more.

Gotta go with the highest bidder or who has the money. Go for Alibaba, BYD, Tencent or another Chinese conglomerate and aim for 25 or 50% more than the next largest sponsorship deal in the competition. They are the one's with the money and growth.

No. I'm talking about front jersey sponsor.

Though this is what I was getting at. It's still "weird" or "controversial" because that's what we have been conditioned to think. But reality always comes knocking. By the end of this year, more than 50% of the worlds US$ billionaires will be based in China or Taiwan. If we can secure a good deal before anyone else, it can only be positive.

Huawei was already sponsoring Canberra. I believe that deal started before the US regime ordered Huawei be blocked from most of the Australian market.

If it were possible, of course it'd be good but I really liked how the St. George bank looked on the front of the jersey.

Doesn't everyone like JDB? He was innocent of any criminal wrong doing but given what he did with his better half partner pregnant at home...... I'm not judging him because who am I to judge anyone else on moral issues but the cold hard reality is that sponsors like St. George bank care about it.

I agree GCRV. The St George Bank sponsored the Dragons for 40 years from 1984 to 2024. 40 Years!!

Despite these bumps between 1984 and 2016, St. George Bank maintained a remarkably resilient, four-decade-long partnership through the era. Major public friction and concerns over club management, player behavior, and on-field deterioration escalated more acutely after this time frame — culminating in later player controversies (such as the 2019 Jack de Belin case and the 2021 COVID-19 bio-security breaches) before the bank finally ended its long-running front-of-jersey sponsorship at the end of 2023.

Maybe the Club should see if the Illawarra Credit Union would be happy to be the main sponsor or Deicorp or TripADeal?

The only thing that is certain is that the corrupt cop, looking for a big name scalp, lied in order to justify pressing charges and it was disgraceful how he avoided jail time for it! I hope he enjoys standing outside building sites all night as a security guard.
