Interim Coach for 2026 - Dean Young

Like any coach in any grade Young will be judged on his on field results.

Personally I can attest to this fact as a coach you can't be everyone's best mate, considered as a good bloke that listens to others opinions.

Too much outside noise especially from colleagues and friends tends to distort your decision making ability, its human nature.

Like any job, you are as good at it as you have been trained to be and through your own natural ability to do that job.

I dont like the appointment but because of the circumstances there was really no other option.

I will be there on Anzac Day, I have no expectations of a win but I do have an expectation of a vastly improved on field performance, whether we get that or not time will tell.

I wish the new interim coach the very best and I hope that he can conjure up something special both from the team as a whole and especially from the underperforming individual players.

There was never a split by the board on Young being interim Coach
Just media BS lapped up by the dumb eternal whinging fans.

After the announcement was made the assistant coaches were spoken too and Young was appointed, it's as simple as that
But no let's read more into it and continue the negativity

I reckon we could with a GF and some fans will complain it wasn't by enough.

As I said yesterday enjoy the double win look for the positive not the negative.

Thx Mug - appreciate the news as always.

Evidently Dean Young, like with his fan base, is not loved by everyone, specifically on the Dragons Board ... the Illawarra side of the merger don't really love him while the St George side do.
This is where a dual entity club is the devils advocate when both sides of our Board are not on the same page. It means plain and simple that our club is divided. No wonder we are in such a mess. If dumping the joint venture will cure this disease then so be it, as having two sides at loggerheads is only counter productive and divisive to the smooth running of our club. The entire Board should be representing the one club and every person in it, if not and that appears to be the case, then the Chairman has to remove the rot.

I have likened it to us being siamese twins, with one body and two heads.

might be as simple as Young needing a fulltime assistant and Ennis unable to commit.
I know the Fox sport talked him up but how bad has Ennis been as attacking coach? At the time I believed it but now it looks to me like the old Flanno habit of hiring his unqualified friends. Remember he had a plumber or something like that administering (banned) supplement injections.

I suspect they demanded he quit his TV gig and take up the job at the Dragons full-time or quit the Dragons, knowing he wouldn't want to quit his TV job.
