Jumping ahead before anything plays out here but if Canterbury push ahead with this Hunt Signing and Sexton doesn’t leave they’ll have those 2 + Mitch woods in the pipeline.
Reckon Millard’s connections from Canterbury would put us in with a chance of Signing Matthew Barakat (Gun #7) from Dogs Harold Matt’s team?
He’s a hell of a prospect and would go elsewhere with those Halves ahead of him IMO

The Dogs are drowning in halves.. Oloapu was their big purchase previously.. but I guess he is no guarantee of playing on with his neck....hes also likely a 6 so it could be a Woods/Oloapu combo if Burton played 'somewhere' else. They also have Tia who I have no idea about.. but led the Flegg team to a title..
Barakat would be 2yrs behind Woods? Its definitely quite a train of talent coming thru.. feel like we are basically all in on Reed currently.. lot of the forums talk about Rodwell that we lost to the rorters.. maybe would have been impossible to keep both of them given the same age.

Would be madness to throw all our eggs in the Reed basket, gotta have multiple options. Canterbury’s approach is perfect. They have 3-4 really good prospects in every position. They battle it out and the best one makes it to first grade.
Getting Barakat who I think turned 17 this year (Reed turned 18). Would be wise, at least then there’s 2 prospects in the wings so whoever we sign eg. Illias can be replaced with one of them 2 if he doesn’t work out.
I will say I rate our improvement in pathways recruitment the last 2-3 years, I’d like to see us expand into NZ more but on the whole it’s been quite a big improvement recently
