What do you think of the 2 props Schofield and Andrews?Steelers HM Notes (Second Half):
- Mason Andrews #10 has the ball stolen for a 2nd time 1on1.. fmd..
- Thankfully as they spread it, MacGregor #4 gets into the defensive line to snatch an intercept and run 90m to score.. very deflating for the Bears.. wish he had of bought it in another 5-10m though.. goalkick hits the upright and out... 24-4.
- So Brookfield from about 35m out from his line has kicked what I assume is a 40-30 and we got the ball back.. so must be how it works in this grade.. pretty good effort from a little guy.
- We go on to get an easy try.. Humphries #6 to Macgregor #4.. strolls in untouched. 30-4... got a goalkick!
- Jordan Barlow #15 is an interesting runner.. sort of light weight forward who keeps stepping as he runs and dodging tackles.. I think I saw him do it 4x in a row at one point before finally the tackler got him. He definitely makes blokes miss.. not sure what his position is exactly though.
- Scofield #8 has a big game, one particular run was 15-20m post contact.. looks a lot like weatherall with his ponytail..
- Some of these refs are calls are diabloical.. he really wants the bears back in the match.. suppose its good defensive practice though.
- Couple of nice moments from the #9 Chapman too, darting runs and a big tackle.. literally as I write this Scofield breaks a tackle (again) and runs 30m and Chapman nearly scores...
- Meh more penalties let the bears to our line.. nice run from their 2nd rower.. carries a few over for a good bears try 30-10.

I felt like his tries in the 2nd half were non-existent bears defence.. almost no hands laid on him stuff.. but we had tired them out by then... the kid was the difference in the game for sure, its been ages since we have had an actual standout half in lower grades like we see in so many other teams.. him and Ah Kee in Dragons HM.Reed needs to get more involved hahaha
Scofield was my man of the match, his post contact metres are probably half of his total metres as he had 2 really long runs after breaking tackles... Andrews im on the fence with because he keeps being involved in strips or coughing up the ball at crucial times.. his blue shoes make him stand out, you always notice him lol. What do you think of the 2 props Schofield and Andrews?
I wonder about the wisdom of having 2 teams in 1 competition. I guess it's good. A combined team would probably dominate the competition but this way, more players would make the next step up.Wont bother posting SG Ball notes for the Dragons, other than to say that was probably the easiest game they are gonna get against another side with 0 wins.. and they lost it 12-20, never really looked like getting in front.. played ok in patches, but just none of the class or the killer instinct in the side.. 2 more weeks left to avoid the spoon, play the teams coming 5th and 11th @ home.
2 is definitely better. Me thinks so anyway.I wonder about the wisdom of having 2 teams in 1 competition. I guess it's good. A combined team would probably dominate the competition but this way, more players would make the next step up.
Had to google it, but the Laurie Daley is the U18's comp.. that means the kids there potentially flow into the SG Ball comp next year?
