It's a shame that it has to come to mediation to resolve any differences, especially on a public forum. You guys still need to be commended for even conducting the mediation, most other places would have just banned both without even caring or giving no reason.

Appreciate those comments myself and Eric Eric have similar views in regards to the conduct of members and their views.

Neither of us believed that because a members comments about another person were their views and were not deflamatory then people are entitled to their views and was not a bannable offence.

Its actually a tough gig being a moderator on a public forum if you take those responsibilities seriously. As you say the easiest way is to just press a button and ban someone but that's not what this forum or we are about.

Personally I'm going to miss the insights from U Mug Fan but when people make up their minds that it's in their own best interests to remove themselves all you can do is try to find a mutual agreement, unfortunately on this occasion we couldn't. I hope it won't adversely affect this forum moving forwards.

That's the first part but then I'm confused:

Fair enough. So WTF was the alternative? The alternative was the disappearance of St. George. Illawarrra might have survived but doubtful.
  • He thinks we should and there is a chance of the club moving back to Kogarah?
This is funny. Surely anyone with an IQ above room temperature can see that is not going to happen for at least the next 50~75 years. Extremely doubtful it would ever happen but if:
  • Shonkies did the right thing and disappeared.
  • The CoE became obsolete.
  • Population and economic growth in the South Coast stagnated in comparison to Sydney.
If all that happened, moving back to Kogarah is possible. Problem is, in regard to the 3rd point, all the models and projections say that is not going to happen. Not ever.

Finally:
  • Wollongong is a satellite city of Sydney but Penrith isn't.

Can you unlock the thread? If Captain Frank is going to stick around, it's obviously something he feels very strongly about. Keep the issue on that thread or it will raise it's ugly head over and over on other threads. At least in that case, Flanno and his boy will be happy. And if anyone doesn't like it, they can ignore the thread.

It is disappointing to see a valued contributor step away following a disagreement with another member. Hopefully the situation was simply the result of frustration in the heat of debate rather than anything personal. If that’s the case, there’s every chance MugFan may return once things have settled.
