I have nothing bad to say about Atkinson. At least not yet. I just think if the coaching staff were working with him all off season to start at 5/8, LKT would be better. But the coach doesn't want to work with him and doesn't want him to play well.

Another typical game for Kyle today. He knows he just has to not make many mistakes and that is enough. How we could have done with a bit of attacking flair but not to be.

Gee it didn't take long for Willie Peters' bubble to burst with the Brad Arthur coached Leeds team walloping the HKR 58-6. What a thrashing - 10 tries to 1.
Makes me wonder why Brad Arthur isn't on top of the PNG or another NRL Club (like maybe the Cowboys) list to be the head coach whenever. Even could be a good thing at the Dragons. He was the one who got Gutho when years younger, Mitchell Moses and a ton of big forwards which is his forte. Yes, he did win the wooden spoon in 2012 (interim head coach for 6 games so really shouldn't count I guess) and 2018. Lost 4 semis and 1 grand final and got the bullet in 2024 after the Eels got thrashed in magic round by the Storm. Now, after typing all of this I would say we should give him a big miss - hahahaha!
Willie Peters this year has me doubting him as well. HKR got beat by York (a shock), lucky to beat the Broncos in the Challenge Cup and now thrashed by Leeds.
So Go Shane - you can do it. The boys can do it. Get Kyle running much more please and Atko as well.

Sir, why do you want Kyle to run more? He doesn't trouble the defence one bit. He threw a dummy and ran on the last in the CS and was stopped dead in his tracks by the hard-hitting Mr. Mathew Dufty

If young Reed develops as I expecting him too. Next season I can see him taking over the 7 jersey, Atkinson going back to his more natural 6.
The only way I see Flanagan playing 1sts in 27 is off the bench as a 14, and that will depend on if Cook is extended.
If Cook is not extended then Liddle will be our 9 with Flanagan 14, if Cook is extended there is no place for Flanagan in 1sts except as a 18 or 19.
Be very interesting to see if the retention team are interested in re signing Cook.

Better to run than not, otherwise why have him playing? We need runners - speedy ones at that and I know that Kyle doesn't have that quality but he will be picked to play if not injured so best to get him to run, run, run.Sir, why do you want Kyle to run more? Ben Hornby was a fullback if my memory serves me correctly and I think Bennett moved him into the half back position and he went great. Maybe we sign up Matt Dufty and get him to play half back and then we will have a runner - but no doubt lacking the skills of a good half back which we desperately need.

Hornby was moved to half well before Bennett got here. Was always floating between 1/6/7 at the selection table ...

He made the permanent move the year Bennett started. Darius Boyd went to fullback and Honrby halfback.

I would say playing rounds 6 to 26 as a 7 in 2008 as permanent move.

For gods sake, give LKT a few games to play with Atkinson behind a decent forward pack. The biggest problem with the attack is Kyle Flanagan.
