no way was Tu our worst out there ... One real miss he made was the drop when gutho was hit high ... would have been nice to see him catch that and have a run ..

Seles 2 runs in half a game was inspiring.

Sele had 22 run metres. So much for the possibility of a contract extension for him.

KF 0 line breaks, 0 line break assists, 0 tries, 0 try assists for the second game in a row.

The next 4 games against weaker opposition are crucial, if we can’t go 3-1 or 4-0, particularly beating titans away and cowboys/manly at home then this season really will get away from us

Kyle deserves criticism 100%. I’ll see how we go but it’s funny how obvious it was before the season started that scoring points would be a massive issue.

A fullback that can’t run and a 6 who can’t do anything. When people say he’s a ‘competitor’ that’s everything you need to know about a half

At least atko has a running game/big boot and a great pass in him, my ideal scenario and I said this last week is just soft bench Kyle by leaving him at 19 to ‘cover’ for a half or hooker injury and play LKT at 6. At least LKT has a good short kicking game and can offer a threat running the ball

I mean that would be a dream and keep the season alive.. for me 2-2 would be the baseline.... I want to see that the effort can be converted into wins against mid-tier sides.. the players need to believe it too.... that effort wont be there in 2 months time otherwise.

Season starts this weekend imo, but coming from a 0/2 base... the pressure will be right on us from here on in.

Our coach has had 3 off seasons to recruit and retain players. This squad is of his choosing. He has had 3 pre seasons to instill winning habits and standards. The self-sabotaging way we played yesterday is his responsibility. I overreacted to our gutsy performance in Vegas. But, it is not your good games that determine what kind of team you are. I have a bad feeling that our performance yesterday is who we are. That is the result of 3 pre seasons of coaching. Incredible that he was extended last year.
Should've at least had some performance clauses written into his extension.

What annoys TF out of me is that he even admits he isn't able, isn't professional enough to be objective in regard to KF. First he embarrasses the entire club and every supporter by pleading with the journalists, just holding back tears, to ask other coaches how good Kyle is then he admits he has to rely on Deano to tell him how well KF is playing.

Where is the professionalism? Why hasn't Watsford come down and said enough is enough. KF is dropped or you are fired and he is dropped.

Perfect example of kyle derp - 23 min left to go, off the back of repeat sets, kyle runs slowly and is tackled on the last.
I don't want to pile in on him. There is enough of that. But that play looked to me like a guy who knows the coach will go wild with praise if it comes off but ignore it if it doesn't. In that case, why not go for it?

According to Flanno in the PC scoring points is not our issue :)

Gutho is on the slow side for a fullback but he still goes well. But with a fullback on the slow side, really need fast wingers.

In the CS first half and first 2 rounds, he looks very pedestrian or off the pace even compared to the last 2 years. I think this is pretty typical for fringe first graders when they get to the state of their career Kyle is now at.

We all know the reason he is there, his stats yesterday were beyond pathetic.
If they actually fell for that dummy on the last and he went in, Flanno would have used for justification for Kyle's inclusion in the team for the rest of the year. It looked like they did fall for it but Kyle was just too slow and too lacking tackle busting ability to take advantage of it.

It's not his fault anyway. He isn't picking the team every week. Though he certainly could do his old man a favour by standing down before his old man is sacked.

Not his fault. But, if it were me, I would never have signed to play for a club where my old man was coach.

He didn't have any other offers.

I wasn't so against his signing. I thought his old man might be able to get a bit more out of him and if he couldn't, he's spend the time in reserve grade. Was wrong on both counts.

Yes. Poor Flanno. All he wanted was to sign AFB, Manu, Deardon! So unfair that you can't just ask Santa for the players you want. No one is saying he got the players he wanted. We are saying that this Roster, nearly 3 years after his appointment, is of his making. This is the roster that he in fact did build.

Consider last year's minor premiers. Many predicted them to get the spoon last year. Raiders haven't signed an in demand established first grader for years. (In fact they lost Wighton in that time.) They have recruited good available players who wanted an opportunity and they have coached them. It can be done.

Suppose that this is not an option for Shane. Suppose coaching is not his way. Suppose he needs to recruit a star-filled team and win with pure talent. Well, in that case he would want to be better at getting/keeping these players. You are telling us that he can't get any players he wants. He also wanted to keep Hunt and Molo but they didn't want to play for him. It seems attracting and keeping players is not his forte either.

As for the juniors that "will take time to become good first graders". It depends which ones you mean. But the Couchmans, Stewart and Egan have generally outplayed Flanno's vets. They are already good players. These guys becoming so good so soon has actually bailed Flanno out. If not for them we would have been hammered in Vegas and would have been down by 20 at halftime v Storm. Recall that we didn't win many games last year after Toby and Dylan joined Ryan on the out for the season list. We are also lucky to have Reed, LKT, Buchanan, LPT, Nick T., etc. continuing to develop. We are probably the most stacked team in the comp as regards local juniors. Other coaches can only dream of such a pipeline.
I was so enthusiastic about Flanno being head coach but for me he's been such a disappointment. I doubt he sees out the season.
