Then he needs to find someone as Glover leaves too many points out there. In close games that can be difference between a win or a loss.Who else is there?
Different position.Looks much bigger than Buchanan. Better player too.
Easier said than done. Then he needs to find someone.
Thanks again!Very dominant win from NSW Cup today (36-4), got exposed a coupla times but defended overall very well.. manly were poor tbf (tonnes of errors) and yet still had maybe 3 tries disallowed off forward passes that were actually called for a change by touchies...
Player Comments:
- Tonga played like a man who knows hes next man up for 1st grade.
- Liu is a really consistent force in cup now, im sure we will sign him soon, the debate is whether hes a Dev player or Top30 for 2026.
- LKT has also clearly had the coach in his ear, he took on a lot more kicking duties (long, medium and short), his kicks weren't wonderful tbh, but atleast hes being more active which is been my biggest complaint (he plays sleepy), we were very dominant with a retreating defence.. but he did set up some tries today for sure.
- Glover was active and crucial to the win.. as was Cody.
- Lawson had his best game ive seen on the wing, finished some tries with pace, didnt see any errors (ok until the last 10mins as I write this lol), think he needed this game for some confidence.
- Buchanan was solid @ctr, did his job which we need.. our centres have been a revolving door..
- NickT played ctr to replace Allan, had his moments obviously got exposed a bit defensively.. but a weapon with the ball as always.. big boy, he messed up 1 try had the ball knocked out when improving the position.. but scored 1 later..
- Didnt rly notice Halangahu, RFM also bombed a try cold over the line, not even sure how.. but we got the ball straight back from a manly error and scored anyway.. plus he scored a good try later so forgiven.
- Reed was 18th man again.. at some point I guess they will hit the button, I can only see it through injury..
I wrote this on the other forum.Didnt rly notice Halangahu
His ball playing is still a work in progress. But we have extended him so he is seen as a likely long termer. What position remains to be seen.LKT has also clearly had the coach in his ear, he took on a lot more kicking duties
Hes only young but even in flegg last week I cant yet picture the longterm player that he is going to be.. or why hes conisdered a bigger prospect than latu for example.. but the fact that gould wanted him... and others far far far more knowedgable than me r chasing him... I assume means he is quite something for his age... im not sure how far a bulldozer can go though, unless he ends up a lazarus style prop.. I cant rly think what other modern day player you could compare to him.. maybe a hudson young.. but hudson is very dynamic.. and Jacob rly needs a pass at some point.I wrote this on the other forum.
I often see him standing round out wide when he should be tearing into the defense. Also same in attack hands on hips waiting for the pill. Show more intent Jake. Was picked on the bench for today but with no Allan, Nick T went to centre and Jake started but back on the edge.
↓I haven’t seen the flegg game but it’s nice to see Heidke scored a hatrick, anyone that watched the game - how did the SG ball boys (Meafou,Reed,Heidke) play?
Flegg win (20-14)... the Flegg team is a really hard team to watch (I dont rly like watching them, bit better with SG Ball being moved up now).. self sabotage with quite a few players not quite up to this standard.. puts a lot of pressure on the others:
Desperately needed that win though, but imo we need to move a couple more SG kids up, kids with bigger bodies, couple I assume are injured which is the problem.
- Basically Heidke in his second game... scored 3 tries, one was an 80m try would you believe for a centre.. also took a contested bomb when we were under the pump, literally the only reason we eeked out a very well fought victory.. he will have to be moved up to NSW Cup later this year... hell maybe he can even play wing if necessary after todays performance.
- We did defend our line numerous numerous times, so credit for that.. but we also kept giving them the ball, there are a few like Pring we just have to move on from, I assume Borg was injured... but even if its not him there must be someone a bit bigger and more athletic.
- I dont want to pick players out.. but... Toby Rumble has these errors like his brother, hes so frustrating to watch, even dropped back after his cup debut, I thought he had some rly good signs earlier in the season, but he puts us under so much pressure.
- Lyric I feel like struggles a bit, it seems like you need to be bigger and stronger every league you go up, which is why its surprising Buchanan has made it this far, Lyric has nice feet but seems to get put on his bum.. and im not sure Afu is a winger.. he got burnt embarrassingly so for his first try where nothing was doing.
- Reed is getting better in his 2nd game.. hes atleast scheming and playing whats in front.. got sent off for 10, was a little unlucky I thought, maybe a fraction of a second early tackling someone... but didnt affect us... TPH still keeping the seat warm i feel.
- Forwards were nothing too interesting.. we struggled early but tbf we came back in the 2nd half.. I thought Hikila really stamped his authority.. forgotten man with all the big name 2nd rowers.. but he runs with real venom.. tbf he did come in against a tired defence though, but good on him.
- CST didnt play, Treweekes didnt play.. I didnt actually notice DMeafou, but thats on me probably, was watching distracted..
Boy that'd be something.unless he ends up a lazarus style prop.
Arent they. Toby had a shocker today.Toby Rumble has these errors like his brother, hes so frustrating
But did he really? Gould is known to play games, distract the Dragons with Jake, while sweet talking Latu... I'm more so convinced that the Latu deal was done in and around after Rd1 or at least Latu made up his mind at that time, i think Stewart and Egan getting picked before him may be a catalyst for it in the end to sign with the Dogs, i think Gould has offered something more than just a 3 year deal with X amount of $, i THINK Latu has sister who plays league, wouldn't surprise me if she gets a good deal, would be surprised if the parents end up getting jobs at the club or one of Laudry's pubs, or if the other siblings get scholarships of some sort, wouldn't be the first time that the Bulldogs have helped out a players family member with a job within the club on a higher salary...Hes only young but even in flegg last week I cant yet picture the longterm player that he is going to be.. or why hes conisdered a bigger prospect than latu for example.. but the fact that gould wanted him... and others far far far more knowedgable than me r chasing him... Yeah none of that happened, this is all on the club. But did he really? Gould is known to play games, distract the Dragons with Jake, while sweet talking Latu... I don't know what that means but I hope it's because the people at the club who know much more about his game than me simply didn't rate him that highly.Yeah none of that happened, this is all on the club.
Right! As opposed to the first grade halves who have no ball playing ability at all.His ball playing is still a work in progress. But we have extended him so he is seen as a likely long termer. What position remains to be seen.
