NSW Cup and Jersey Flegg, 2025

Jo what in your opinion is the reason for a bloke with limited stamina. Specially a big, strapping guy like Vili. Is it physical or mental or attitude?
I've seen him play live a couple of times RVH, to me he was injured for a while last year, but nothing seems to have changed, he should be doing all the training the others do. I think its attitude, he didn't really want to be at the Dragons to start off with. Lets see what Jo reckons.

big day for lower grades takes some of the pain out of yesterday... Flegg is benefiting by finally having someone like Reed to lead them around, thats really the only difference, we dont usually have that luxury in lower grades.. but the pack did really well.. just keps it up all game, couple of flashing moments from Heidke on fulltime showed his speed and finishing, but really noone stood out today, just all over the paddock, players were doing good things.

NSW Cup I mean again early roll-on and we always look good when were winning.. pack again rly solid, even without LPT and Lawson also missing... Ilias put on a few good short passes and scored one, doesnt have the speed to annihilate a game.. but good hitout for him. Im not rly sure whether he or Kyle are the better 7.. I dont rly know what to think tbh.. bit flat on everything atm, esp with Latu and prob Finau leaving.. but still more to look forward too, good chance LPT plays I would reckon, had the week off, the pack struggled last week, potentially some injuries on top.... that said was good to see Sele get thru a game today.. hes much better than Lawrie.. pushes thru the line.. but his fitness will be awful... prob give him a few weeks in reggies.. but depends on first grade injuries I suspect..
With Guler getting an injury Rev, I think Sele might be straight back, lets hope he can last more than a couple of games.

Lachlan Ilias paid the price for the Dragons’ loss to the Roosters on Anzac Day with the 24-year-old being dropped to reserve grade for Round 9.
To his credit, Ilias didn’t sulk — instead he produced a dominant performance that helped steer the Dragons to a 60-26 win over the Magpies.
Ilias scored two tries and set another up, while also recording two linebreak assists and finishing with over 100 metres from 20 runs.
Whether that’s enough to convince Shane Flanagan to recall him for the Dragons’ clash with the Warriors this weekend remains to be seen.

Won't be enough because LKT also played well and the No.6 is untouchable while Flanno is coach. Even though Ilias No.7 and LKT No.6 has a lot of potential. It's for that reason, Flanno will do anything and everything to prevent it getting a chance.

Dragons winger Ben Rumble scores his second hat-trick of the season in his side’s big win over the Magpies. He also set up a try, had three linebreaks and ran 110 metres.

Cody Ramsey continued his impressive form with two tries, two try assists, a linebreak, two linebreak assists and 183 running metres.

That is impressive. Will make Flanno think about a recall at least. Like to know from where those numbers were sourced as I've been unable to find any detailed Ressie stats.

I saw nothing from Sele on Sun that suggests an automatic return JD. We will find out this arvo but my money is on our giant bookend LPT making his debut off the bench. How apt is his nickname LOKOMOTIVE.
yeah I like it RVH, and I hope you are right, the Warriors have a big pack and we at least need his size to find out where he is at, if he debuts I would wish him all the best.

I would just love to see CR back in the NRL, if you need something to motivate the Dragons that would be it, what a champion.

Its out in the open now Chris, Flanno Snr cant just keep ignoring it.

  • So now #16 and #10 are back. I hope Flanno doesn't drop #11, #3 or #17 to accommodate any of the veterans if or when Eisenhuth is back. Dropping #13 back to Jersey Flegg would no longer be out of the question.
  • Huge win last week. I was skeptical of #3 in the centres but obviously went ok.
  • A huge win by this team too against better opposition, according to the competition table.
  • Buchanan and big name forwards got all the wraps last year but I always thought #3 had some qualities which could make him a very good centre. He seems to be going well lately.
  • Probably not possible to swap Flegg and Cup #13s this year. Shame.

Eric Eric with no LOKOmotive the Ressie engine room lacks size and power, specially up front with Sele, Lawrie, Mike Molo all bantams in comparison to the 122k behemoth. I'd like us to go after the Rorters La Salle Va, similar in size to LPT and who was his prop partner for the '23 Aussie Schoolboys. What a pair of future Dragon bookends they'd be.

Eric Eric #3 being Lyric Craft-Te Moananui, bit of a mouthful but you are spot on he is a promising centre/wing. Rated him back in '24 as one of the main contributors to the Ball premiership. His is quickish, a decent defender has some ball skills but for me his greatest asset is his aerial work. Has perfected his ability to sprint to the intended kick receiver, judge his leap snatch the ball from virtually out of his arms then in a FLASH offload to a support. Did it in the Ball GF and this season for Flegg and twice on Sunday, one leading to a try and another putting us in great attacking position to score.

JD our coach has it on record that 'Ilias will be back , it is up to to him", so looks like he is backing him for a return. If so then either Kyle, LKT and lets not forget Atkinson with duke it out for 5/8. BOD has muddied the water by extending KF to '27, knowing they intended bringing Atkinson here. Blessed with brains.

I would just love to see CR back in the NRL,
Mate for mine Ramsay is very similar to Sloan, blinding speed off the mark, elusive, relatively safe under the long kick, sometimes chimes into the attack and as poor a positional defender, but has a touch more intent in the actual tackle. He is also paper thin, like Sloan was a year or two ago and gets the similar 'ragdoll' treatment on his kick returns. And unlike Sloan he does not have the same ball skills or game awareness imho.
