These fijiian kids are fast and athletic.. absolute weapons.. those first few tries they scored.. were just balls just out of reach of a very tall toby rumble.. almost undefendable.. their scoots from dummy half are like missiles also.. but from 16-0 down.. back to 16-10.. we r back in it.. Hodges the #6 if off though, not sure if by plan or injury/hia.

brilliant individual speed from my boy Williams to get us back to even 16-16... err maybe we are winning 18-16 actually.. I think we kicked all 3, and NSWRL has us at that score... probably the bartv scoreboard is wrong.

TPH nearly went thru but once they got him, 3 of them basically just drive him into the turf... not sure if head first.. the poor kid cops atleast 1 of these every week due his size.. boys are absolutely out on their feet with 8mins or so to go...

We are surving on the fiji errors currently.. but we are making errors also... fiji are still charging onto the ball, and we cant get out of our end.. we are wrecked from the heat and physicality (29 deg 70% humidity).. silktails are definitely improved since last season.. do feel for them they dont know all the rules.. they are doing it on skill alone.

Such a shame.. 1 error too many we defended so many times but a massive prop at full speed on the line.. we just couldnt stop it this time.. Silktails take the lead.. I think its fulltime bar maybe injury time.

UPDATE: Holy sheett.. ball back off the short drop off and a risky as hell grubber from TPH for Jesse Williams to score in the corner.. i dont know if the score is 22-20 or 22-22 though lmao.. this goalkick from the edge is either to draw or win... either way he missed it...still in injury time.

And an error going for the winning try... Silktails take advantage and pot a fieldgoal.. we must be down 22-23, damn it.. credit to the silktails though..

Incredible experience for the boys I reckon, and rly very nearly came home with it, really just a dropped ball or a conversion the difference..... back and forth the whole time.

Who are they a feeder team for?

Their forwards are just too powerful that close to the line. Was bound to happen as our middles are bantams by comparison. They have a couple of giants, that may make NRL. Interested Flanno?

Even the locals looked knackered after that one. Mustv'e been oppressive heat and humidity.
Didn't see the game but noticed Williams scored 2 tries. Were they handed to him or did he have to work for them?

One more good, big, fast winger I think will just about give us a full 17 of really good young players at the club almost ready for NRL if not in already.

Noting the lack of Polynesians in the Steelers Matts 17. Two forwards only, Creighton Meafou and Hal Amone. Oops wrong thread.

Speed and finishing is about all Jesse offers as his lack of involvement in games worries me as does his defensive positional play.
Still young so plenty of time for a coach to work on his flaws. Just show more enthusiasm for starters, such as how proud u are to showcase the RedV.

Mate it was an abysmal coverage from Fiji so you missed nothing. Much of the game was centered on the Fijians so a lot of the Dragons in possession was missed, incl one of our tries as the vidcam was tracking their defense trying to stop it. Luckily the operator woke from his drunken stupor to capture Williams two tries. The first he found himself in space about 40m out then put on the afterburners, second he dived on a grubber. That six pointer evened the scores but they booted a field goal to win.

The result of FG having a lot of sat arvo games and Cup playing before them.
Enjoy it while it lasts.
Great to have the Foxtel coverage as it is a quantum leap above BarTV although I do appreciate being able to watch most of the matches. It is a pity they can’t find a few game commentators though.

  • I guess #18 isn't on the radar for first grade. Is selecting #2 on the wing and including #3 in the team a good idea? Without #3 and #15 (who might drop out of the 17 anyway) this is an incredibly young team but if they are winning without the seniors, what's the problem?
  • Has #16 been more impressive than the bigger names of #13 and #10?
  • TBH, I don't know much about this team.
  • Obviously everyone has high hopes in #5 but maybe he needs a rocket to get more involved in general play.
  • #10 is a middle forward who might be flying under the radar. He reminds me of that former Origin prop Melbourne just medically retired. Hard working prop with an offload. I think he's a QLDer as well.
