I know things haven't been good for the Dragons for a while but spare a thought for Wests Tigers fans. They are a reminder that things at the Dragons could be much worse.
I would say "good luck at your new club" but it wouldn't be genuine so I won't. But I wish Zac Lomax good luck at his new club.If there is one thing I will credit Hunt for, well one more thing. If he was playing with a good playmaker in the halves but not expected to be a playmaker himself, he probably would have really been good. But anyway, if there is one more thing I'll give to Hunt, he doesn't have any issue criticising teammates or former teammates.
HUNT’S LATEST POT-SHOT AT DRAGONS
The tit-for-tat between Ben Hunt and the Dragons just continues. The latest relates to Hunt’s comments during the week about the “new toys” he gets to play with at the Broncos, that could be perceived as a dead-set slap in the face to his former teammates.
Let’s not forget the Dragons finished 11th last season on the NRL ladder ahead of the Broncos who came home 12th. But that didn’t stop the former skipper rubbing salt into the Dragons’ wounds. Hunt told The Courier Mail during the week: “I remember coming home from training a few weeks ago and I said to my wife I feel like I have all these new toys to play with at training.
“She said, ‘What are you talking about’. “I said, ‘I get the ball off ‘Reyno’ and give the ball out the back to Reece and I have ‘Tones’ (Kotoni Staggs) on one side. “It’s really exciting to have such high calibre players around me.”
You can understand that Hunt is excited to be back in Brisbane, and there is no doubt he has a talented roster around him. But even if Hunt’s comments were not meant to be a direct dig at the Dragons, as if the Dragons won’t use them as motivation down the track.
