It’s 20 teams. PVL said either Ipswich or a 2nd team from NZ, either 2029 or 2030

In an ideal world where it didn't upset so many people.. I would love to have merged a bunch of sydney sides.. they are way too close together, especially us, scum, souths and roosters..... rly only need 2 sides there (at most).... and Manly should include the central coast and north shore perhaps.... and this could ensure bigger nurseries for all.. but that ship has long sailed.. so rly the only way to free up a slot is if a club folds, I'd say perth is the most likely, but thats not happening for ages yet.. still feel like the Storm have set an unrealistic expectation for a new side in a new state... that includes PNG except seems they have the financial cheat code to circumvent it... they are also in a league heartland, and hopefully in time that pays off.

Personally, I’d go a 2nd team from NZ and stick the boot into rugby

I would prefer we eventually end up at around 22-24* teams, 21-23 rounds, play each team once, following year just change the home and away, this alleviates the position of some clubs playing bottom 4 sides twice, where as other teams play top4 sides twice, uneven and unfair then have 4 or 5 weeks of semi final football and then squeeze in SOO in, after the GF can have international footy.
* i dont mean by 2030, that number should be the end goal, whether that's 10 years from now or longer

I'd have double ups against traditional rivals like sharks v dragons but otherwise agree.

You would have to change from a top 8 to more than that otherwise there could be a lot of dead rubbers later in the season if there were that many teams.

I guess a way around it is 2 conferences though with maybe a top 5 or top 6?

I hadn't considered going beyond 20, cause that was the magic number.. I love the idea of maybe 22 instead, West Bris, NZ2 & Maybe Pacifika..

I also rly dont want the 2 x 10-team conference concept.. cause I like the variety of playing everyone, I dont rly want to play all the Sydney teams twice.. boring to me.. prefer just once a year and its a big event.

I would sell my children for an NRL draft.. would be the best thing ever.. but I just cant see a way we can ever get it past the RLPA.. ever.. I downloaded an SEN podcast today with Clint Newton on it... thinking he might have some interesting perspectives to share.. but I almost drove off the road as I drifted off to sleep listening to his waffling nothing statements... even the host had to cut him off.
