Pathways Players

Hodges has a few years in flegg iirc, i.e. already has a few years experience on Reed and co.. so will be good to have him as a supplementary player... not sure how well it would translate up the grades.. but only one way to find out.. gonna have to be patient now to see how cup goes next year.. but right now they r probably more focussed on flegg finals..

What’s the contract status of Shadi Hammond? Watching him and Hodges want to take control it looked terrible both of them calling the ball and wanted to take the lead. Goz going to have a problem with both dominant halfs. But wanted to know hiw long Shadi contract is?
A lot of good info here about pathways generally.

Also here.
This is the criticism Moses and Cleary have had playing together in Origin. IMO they have never worked it out so each can play at his best. One of the two or both always struggle.

outside Creighton Meafou is there much to be excited about in the edge forwards Flegg/Cup.
Treweek/Cyrus just seem to be caught in a body shape war to get the physicality right. The others seem a bit vanilla in impact.

Then we really drop back into Matts/Ball.

Feels like we have gone from riches to dust in the space of a year in shedding Luc/SuA and transitioning Jake, relying on other middles to play out of position.

I think we’d all feel a lot better if Jake or Tsougranis had a Couchman esque breakout year.

Think Creighton Meafou physically looks like he COULD be an exceptional edge backrower at NRL level but he’s obviously still at least 2-3 years away

Is he already 18? I know he's 18 this year. Hopefully he's on a development contract and makes his debut if he's doing well in reserve grade next year.

I don’t doubt he could debut if there’s an injury crisis next year but the 2-3 years away comment I mean in terms of actually being able to contribute and not be a liability

Playing on an edge in first grade is so tough, especially defensively. The reads and checking and releasing especially with new halves/backs etc and very little continuity

All this talk is fairly premature anyway, we’ll see how he goes in cup next year and get to judge him better off that. Him next to a Reed/LKT halves partnership in Reggie’s could be very interesting

Ollie being upgraded early is a bit of an anomaly.. 17 year olds have no place in 19s let alone U21's or Cup.. well generally.. patience is tough though.. The other exception may be Rokko Walker next year.. see how we go, hes not as solid as Ollie.. but imo if he plays fullback he should be able to avoid the contact and I feel thats where he should perhaps play this season, I think he might be moving into U19's.... but I dont think he *shouldn't move position to suit the team, cause I think he's part of our future and needs to start skilling up.

CMeafou has these games where he looks like the next coming of jesus.. but then kind of disappears again, he played flegg early year but I havent seen him for a while, assume hes injured...

Treweek has had a couple of games where I thought he might really be a prospect also.. but if hes gonna make it id say its a longer burn.. I dunno if he gets there, very funny body type.. but he does have some real ball skills, like flicks and stuff..

CST seems to have lost his momentum for now.. he was another iirc on a 4yr type nrl deal.. maybe he just needs more time.. maybe a change of scenery.. some injuries havent helped him.. seems like a good body and skills for a modern day forward..
