Pre-Season Scrimmage & Trials

100% Agree, but we will hear about it from opposition fans and journos on those days where Moses kicks it perfectly for Lomax... to leap and crashes over.

We will miss him, but I think its a better situation for the squad.
Would've been good to keep him but now he's gone, not a really big loss. More worrying is his ability to run 15 metres on every carry and end up with 200+ metres run on a regular basis.

Not sure if its 28 Max players, maybe long term locks ins like Jack Suli Sua don't play.
We only used 24 players in Manly scrimmage
Looks ok. I only hope Egan gets some decent minutes.

Good team apart from Ryan not in the 17.
Seems almost everyone has one player or another they really want to see included. Ryann is going to get a stack of chances and unless the team is traveling unbelievably well and there are unbelievably few injuries, Ryan is going to see a lot of first grade. Egan on the other hand can't do much more in the lower grades. Now is the time he needs to get a decent run in first grade, trial or not. Sine Finau and Lawson are 2 others I'd like to see get a lot of minutes.

Nick T is named there as well. All the talk about Halaganhu, Latu, Tonga has had Nick T fly under the radar. A bit bigger, stronger and faster, even though he already had plenty of all 3 of those, he might be ready to hit the NRL like a category 4 or 5 cyclone!

Yeah I wouldn’t worry about the Couchmans chances atm. Toby is almost a certainty to be in the 17 and Ryan will play plenty because of injury/suspension which is a part of the game.

Less likely to see changes to the backline/halves IMO unless someone has bad performances back to back

Not bagging the guy because he’s a good depth player, but 2 of the clips manly posted on YT were eisenhuth getting jammed and dropping the ball and then Olokoatu bumping him off 1v1 to score 😂

Glad you said it, not me. Or W Wild383 would have blown up.

Eisenhuth is good. Comes from a good system, probably trains very hard and sets a good example for the younger forwards. Relatively reliable but misses a few too many tackles for my liking. He's not going to go missing and will continue hitting it up even if he gets hammered. But if I were Flanno, I wouldn't even consider him for the best 17 unless there is an injury/suspension crisis.

That isn't meant in any way to be criticism of Eisenhuth but is praise for the other forwards at the club.

Dragons coach Shane Flanagan will unleash his first-choice spine in the club’s opening trial match of the season against the Roosters.

St George Illawarra’s high-profile spine recruits including co-captains Clint Gutherson, Damien Cook and Lachlan Ilias will all feature in the pre-season clash at Jubilee Oval on Sunday evening.

Halfback Ilias will work alongside five-eighth Kyle Flanagan, as the duo aim to finetune their preparation for round one.

Christian Tuipulotu (hamstring), Blake Lawrie (hamstring) and Tyrell Sloan (foot) are carrying minor niggles and will be rested from the hitout.

Eisenhuth will be in the 17 IMHO and either starting or on the bench depending on JDB, because i look at our props and i don't see much depth to be honest, Guler & Lawrie will probably start, JDB will either start 13 and move to Prop or start from the bench, you have Couchman who can play middle then you have Sele who misses way too many games, VFifita who has about 7minutes in him and is out injured, FMolo who wants out you have his brother who is in and out of 1st grade and is another small middle, we have the big hope in Loko Pasific Tonga who is yet to debut and its too much to ask him to lead our pack for 26+ rounds, where is our grunt and go forward coming from?
Have i missed out any props in our top30 squad?

I think you are right. All the noise in the media is saying that and no hint of a rebuttal from anyone at the club. I just stridently disagree with it. But lets see what happens. Still a few weeks away yet. I hope LPT smashes it in the trials so Flanno can't leave him out. I think surely he also has to find space for both Couchmans in the 17.

Sele & Buchanan were a surprise to me, thought both were still injured.. Buchanan if back must be his first week back.

BRumble was also a surprise but I think if Sloan is out, someone has to play some fullback once Gutho goes off, so that will be interesting.. havent seen him play in ages.
