If Flanno is keeping CT in Firsts on the wing why then did he buy Lawson as he knew with Gutho to be f/b that Sloan would move to wing. There was also Sione Finau waiting in the wings for that spot. Four into two dont go, either does three. So who misses the boat.

The best thing about one of the Feagai's leaving is don't have to hurt brain trying to figure out which is which.
Mate they played in different positions. o_O Seriously, I rated Max the better player, not only because Matt is such a poor winger, but that Max had more skill. Yet he was the twin that spent most of his time with us in a lower grade.

It would take a lot of retraining. Basically I rate him but I think he's not fast enough to be a good, long-term winger. Due to the way he charges into the line and makes a lot of post contract metres, I think he would make a good prop. At least give it a try.
Giving it a try in the trials shouldn't hurt but I think Flanno has him penciled in to play on the wing. Wants the team to get used to that. But yeah, 10~15 min in the trials in the forwards would be interesting.

They both have a bad habit of hanging an arm out instead of tackling even though Matt was better last year. Still not good enough.

All I'm saying is Flanno should give a try. Do it in the trials. Why not?

You guys must've missed this. I dont think Flanno wants egg on his face by moving the guy he wanted as a wing into the pack. The Orientals call it losing face. So as I see it the second wing spot is between the other three. Can you see us playing an international, albeit from a different code, in the lower grades. I reckon not.

I think he's a good winger. But not fast enough to be a good, long-term winger. He gets a lot of post-contact metres! And uses his size to charge over defenders near the line. I don't mean to criticise him. I'm not doing that. I'd just like to see what he could do in the forwards.

Fully concur. But we are dealing with a footy coach who has one singular goal, to win a premiership and nothing will sway him from that, even if he may be wrong. No room for sentiment like canning Tyrell Sloan or leaving Sione Finau in ressies even tho he is better than that.

If you're going to put CT in the fwds then you might as well put cook on the wing. Speed isn't everything...

Plenty of occasions last night where speed was a non factor in the wingers ability to score a potential try but power was a factor. Ditto speed helped in other occasions, like the Naden try saver.

The game style needs to adjust to the strengths of the players. Panthers have done well without having a speedy backline...

Sloan & Lawson playing on the wing without even playing NSW cup as a winger is fraught with danger. You let them gain reps & experience then bring them through if they've shown effectiveness at NSW cup level.

CT was one of our best players last year as a WINGER. Drop him now? silly.

I'm certainly not in favour of dropping him. I think he's a good winger. But he makes a lot of post-contact metres, charges into the line, keeps the legs pumping and is close to the heaviest in the squad but quite slow for a winger. I just want to see what he can do in the forwards. He might surprise a lot of people. I think of........ Not sure but I think his name was Williams from Manly. They called him T-Rex. He was a very big but rubbish winger. One day they moved him into the fowards and he promptly became an Origin player.

Yes exactly which a key attribute of a modern day winger, you know the guys taking the first hard carries back to start the set. He was one of our best at it for a reason. There's no reason we can't have a bit of speed on the other side and continue to play the power game on the left, then CT and Suli will continue to do the hard early carries out the back that's often unappreciated, and im sure Sloan will be having a crack as well. As long as our game plan matches our players abilities then we will be fine.

Also Tony was a back rower not a prop, similar to the earlier discussion about Aitken very different roles.

And a modern day prop.

This is going to be good! Ben Rumble to excel at centre. If he comes at centre for significant minutes.

Decent start good line speed in defence , their forwards are bigger and making ground through our middle however well organised defence that is what an experienced fullback brings. Nice try by Flanagan and we are up by 6 after 20 min
