No Couchies? Think I'll be changing some of these positions. The Meafou bros are starters. Toby one edge, Creighton M the other, I have Isiah Fagalilo for Phillips, Jake at 10, Hamish or Daniel M lock, Hutcho, Ryan, Alex Papuali bench, Cornelius Papuali one centre or wing, if the case room for both Te Moananui and Heidke at centre, Rokko Walker is my 5/8.

Has Burton always played full back and is there room for Dylan Egan, Nick T, Stanley-Traill?
What I can say is it excites this old codger as we will be spoilt for choice with our future squad if we manage to keep hold of at least two thirds of our most promising players. We will also be the envy of the comp, specially our engine room.

Burton has played fullback mostly and centre he would play anywhere I assume to have a crack a an nrl start

This is from April. Things have changed a lot since then. But no Couchies shows they, I mean News LTD, really don't have much an idea of what they are talking about.

So primarily it was Bennett with POS who got him to the Dolphins, compare that to Flanagan and that other F%$kwit Haran and you will have your answer on why he's not at the Dragons. Good on him for not badmouthing the club but we all know that R & R were just dirty words at that time.

Yes, Bennett and POS. Both experienced in knowing who will become greater as they mature. POS is also doing a great job at the Knights. Our contingent just fu ed up badly as usual.

Little bit raw at the moment, defense needs tightening and he has to use his supports more. Strong can break a tackle, but yet to see him step anyone or run away from defenders to show just how fast he really is. Another Shellharbour Stingrays junior?

According to the DT, Dragons have 6!! in the top 50 players under 23.

# 43: Jacob Halangahu​

Age: 19​

Position: Second row
Contract: End of 2027
Halangahu is an Australian schoolboy, NSW Origin under 19’s representative and the least talked about Dragons rookie forward … for now. He hasn’t had the chance to show his full potential at NRL level but his junior highlights tell the story perfectly. He’s big, mobile and his nuggety frame makes him hard to stop once his legs get going.

#32 Loko Pasifiki Tonga​

Age: 21​

Position: Prop
Contract: End of 2027
Pasifiki-Tonga pleaded with Dean Young for more minutes and got his wish in round 18. The 196 centimetre and 116 kilogram prop did not disappoint, churning out 150 metres in 56 minutes – the most he’d played all year. As Young put it, Pasifiki-Tonga wants to be a pack ‘alpha dog’, and it’s an ambition that should be music to the ears of Red V fans.

#28 Dylan Egan​

Age: 21​

Position: Second row
Contract: End of 2029
Poor Sam Stonestreet was left counting his ribs after the Cronulla winger was folded by Egan in a bone crunching tackle in round 14. It’s just one example why Egan is being compared to Penrith hit man Liam Martin – and why the club extended the local junior long-term in March despite being out with an ACL injury.

#24 Hamish Stewart​

Age: 21​

Position: Second row/Lock
Contract: End of 2029
Stewart might not be as explosive as other edge forwards in the top 50 but as a nonsense versatile forward, who is tough, reliable defensively and has a big motor, he is worth his weight in gold. He showed we can do with the ball in hand last weekend, scoring, a brilliant individual try, where bamboozling the Warriors defence with a dummy, to keep the Dragons in the contest.
Can't say I agree with the way they describe him. Seems very explosive. Breaks a lot of tackles and scores a lot of tries considering how many tries the team scores overall.

#14 Toby Couchman​

Age: 22​

Position: Prop
Contract: End of 2027
51 tackles and zero misses. Couchman tackled like a mad man to do everything in his power to jag the Dragons’ second win of the season against the Tigers in round 19. He didn’t shirk his duties with the ball either, finishing with a 120 metres. He’s on track to finish the season in the top 10 in average run metres for props. In a side running dead last, it’s an almighty effort.

#13 Ryan Couchman​

Age: 22​

Position: Lock
Contract: End of 2027
Since starting at lock back in round 11, Couchman has been a shining light in a pretty miserable season for the Dragons. Like twin brother Toby, Ryan never neglects his defensive duties and is always willing to take the tough carries. There’s plenty of buzz about the Dragons’ young forward pack but Couchman will be its backbone for years to come.
There were only 2 forwards rated above #13. Halasima for the Warriors at #5 which I think is accurate. He's going to be SBW 2.0. Also Kulikefu Finefeuiaki the Dolphins second rower rated at #11. Not sure about him.

Now all we need is a couple of backs to join the forwards.

I don’t understand these rankings at all, I certainly wouldn’t put Stewart at #24

Tell me 23 other players who are better than him under 23 and I think you’d struggle to name 10

I wouldnt rank him 24 either, but it is positional as well which has some impact ... Players like - Bostock, Finefeuiaki, Alamoti, Pattie, Isaia Katoa, Sharpe, Toia, Strange, McLean, Lehi Hopoate (the couchies) ... I wouldnt have him top 10 but he is still very very good and getting better all the time and just outside the top 10 for mine.

ps .. i havent seen the fiull list
