Recruitment and Retention for 2023

Rava as an interchange forward could work as well. Big enough, runs and tackles hard, a little slow for a winger.
Again agree and again he just has too many errors in him and his positioning and being able to read the game would be have to be coached into him. It's not easy to try and convert a long time back into a forward.

Why is he being offered so much brass? Mind boggling. Do these teams want him as a half or hooker. I am betting hooker where he seems to shine for the Maroons and a Kangaroo replacement.
Believe me when I tell you a hooker is worth far less than a playmaking halfback. There is no chance that they would be offering him 1 m a season to play hooker. The top hookers would be on no more than 650k

That much!!!
I honestly believe that the Dolphins and Titans will offer him more than we can offer. Time will tell, if he has made sound investments with his salary over the years and is financially secure he may opt for a lower amount otherwise I believe that we won't be able to match either club

.. not all. Cameron Smith for instance. Some of the past hookers, Ian Walsh and Noel Kelly. I think Hunt would provide more worth for whatever club he settles with, at hooker.
I would never select him as a hooker in the NRL competition he is far too weak a defender.

Surely? the current champions halfback Nathan Cleary reportedly on 1.2m
In your opinion, should the club be trying to re-sign Hunt or move him on? If you think the club should be trying to keep him, for how much and for how long?

Yet the Maroons do. A weak defender, another skill he lacks, yet you and the Qld coaches courting him say he is worth what he gets..
Maybe defending in the middle and on the edges is quite different. I wouldn't have thought so but his form for Queensland for a few years suggests there is nothing wrong with his defence at Origin level.

Given a choice of bringing either Cleary or Hunt to the club based on their skillset and pay them S1.2 m. Cleary over Hunt for sure as he is worth it. Still that is far too much money for one player, plus a big chunk out of your cap.
Look at the forwards Cleary is behind compared to Hunt.

I'd say neither is worth 1.2mil.

A big plus. But compare the skills between the two. Cleary has instinct, can put a player into a gap, a decent kicker.. short and long plus is a gun defender. Has to be the Kangaroo half.
I tend to agree though I think he's overrated. Hunt's long kicking game is very good. I think he's got more 40/20s than Cleary.

I cannot see us being competitive until 2025 with our current roster. That means if Hunt re signs his last season will be 2025. I am convinced that we have a salary cap issue and this is impending our ability to recruit 2 decent front rowers that will help us be competitive by that year. If you re sign Hunt it cannot be for more than 900k a season which may free up some money to try and attract the players we need.
