Douehi is reportedly on 350k at the tigers this year but they will allow him to go if he gets an offer from elsewhere because he wants to play his preferred position #6

From a squadbuilding standpoint (Douehi can fill in at Centre and Fullback) + money wise I think it could be a really good pickup.

One thing I think our club does well is the medical department, Liddle and Bird were injury prone players and when they played with us they barely missed any games.
Is 5/8 his preferred position?

Yup and the staff Flanno has brought with him have a long history of managing injury prone players as well so he seems very confident to be able to manage those things as best as possible. There is obviously still always risk but aside from that from a value for money perspective Doueihi is an absolute steal.

That's a very good point. Even ben hunt who played numerous games was pretty sturdy.

Yea the Liddle point is a key one, he was an absolute shocker for injuries and people said a similar thing when we signed him that he was going to be another dud, yet hes been managed well and rock solid for us, easily one of our best. Its also why we shouldnt be busting him for 80min week in week out.

Benji was extremely injury prone early in his career. In the last several years, he seemed to be made out of play-dough.

No intel but maybe it could go like this
Illias at 6 for 25 onward
Atkinson at 7 for 26 onward
Flanno to 14 at some point.
Fans will say it blocks the paths of LKT and Reed but if they are good enough they force their way in.
I guess so but Flanno last season proved so unbelievably hesitant to promote young players, Couchman's in particular, at the expense of his imports. Also, if Illias is at 6 from 25, is Flanno going to be 7? Bit of a head-scratcher. Why wouldn't it be the other way around?

I'm starting to think we may (try to) sign both... We need a 3rd half in the mix anyway.. Could lead to 1 in reserves atleast temporarily.

1 injury to anyone though, including cook or liddle.. And were instantly in trouble unless we sign 2.

The BMM one definitely surprised me.. I can't rly see him getting a bench spot in 1sts.. But he is huge for nsw cup.. And might be useful in an injury crisis, but I thought we might have been saving some of those dev spots for lkt + some of the train & trial kids.

Bulldogs reportedly mulling over a 2 year contract for Ben Hunt.

I’ve always rated Sexton and think he’d be a great pickup. Proper halfback with a great kicking game and can play both sides (also a good goal kicker if Holmes is injured)

Maybe why Flanno was talking about waiting to see where Hunt landed before committing to a half.

Just got caught up in a st george facebook thread for the first time. A few saying how good Hunt was and it was all our forwards fault he couldn't perform. Gave them a mouth full and bolted lol. What a bunch of loosers.
Last time I used, they were angry about JDB getting a new contract. Not the one year extension earlier this year but the one before that.

From a coaches perspective Hunt was as good as he could be as a playmaker. I watched him carefully in the last 2 seasons especially when things were not going our way. To my eye he was frustrated that people just couldn't do their individual jobs, he was a poor communicator, failed to set and lead by example and as a result lacked the support from individual players.

Football is not a very hard game in regards to what your teams goals and objectives are. They are simple, in attack, get to the advantage line consistently, obtain field position, keep possession of the pill, get to your attacking structures and allow your play makers time and room to execute, also allow your key individual attack oriented players opportunities.

Unfortunately for our team in the last 7 yrs we just haven't had the engine room to achieve their goals on a consistent enough basis and this then highlights the individual flaws and weaknesses of our play makers. Now we wait for 2025 with an air of intrepidation as we need to find a new play maker and a big bodied bookend enforcer to make us a competitive top 8 team. Just my views.
