Recruitment and Retention for 2025

My guess it's really a right thing to do moment, he won't be playing in 2026 and gives time for that particular youngster to develop and learn.
Why can't a young player learn with more money, keeping him happier, on the supplementary list?

Well, 29 roster spots filled and only one left. I think Flanno is going to keep that spot open and possibly promote one of the young players, such as Hamish Stewart. But if a big becomes available he might get him. Also the Couchmans could be in for a big year. Shame we cannot get rid of Bocker and Rava to free up more spots…

Apparently that rugby wInger is going to get a spot. Someone must be going to move on. Doesn't every club leave at least 1 spot vacant until well into the season?

Seems the Dragons have Lawrie, Fifita, Eisenhuth and RFM all making up the numbers. And Rava in the backs. I just can't understand it. Makes no sense to me at all. Every club has 1 or 2 but 5?

It's possible Eisenhuth would've retired if he got a Supp contract but Flanno wants him around, likely to set standards for the youngsters & teach them about professionalism. This way he gets both Eisenhuth & Halangahu, otherwise it would've just been Halangahu imo. It's a 1 year contract, not a 10 year contract. Reactions have been overblown to our squad composition considering players available to us.

Lawrie, Fifita, Rava already had contracts before flanno arrived. We only got RFM last year under his contract with the dogs. Eisenhuth has impressed flanno enough to warrant an additional year.

I see he has. Well, Flanno is past it as an NRL coach. That's all I have to say. Who is next in line? Brad Arthur or another rookie coach? I see he has BMM in there as well. While he is at it, why not drag Bull Bailey out of retirement? Though Ackers and Nick are good additions. LKT should be in the top 30.
Was really looking forward to this meltdown and you haven't dissapointed lol

How do you decide that? I think he's the best since then as well but it's arguable. Griffins's first year was better and he was taking over from Mary's mess just as much as Flanno took over from Gurffins mess.
This keeps getting thrown out there when people are annoyed at Flanno but I dont understand where it comes from, its opinion at best and certainly not fact. Griffins first year we won 3 less games, finished the same position on the ladder and had a worse for/against so hows that better?

You are right but it's really close. Doesn't justify all the love for Flanno as opposed to all the hate Griffin used to get. I think it's because Flanno is the one who finally stood up to Hunt and eventually told him not to let the door hit him on the way out. As opposed to Griffin who treated him like the Messiah.

Griffins team is responsible for recruiting Pasifiki Tonga, Latu and Halangahu. Couchmans are locals so won't credit him for that.

Both did some head-scratching recruitment and retention. Griffin signed Alvaro, Josh McGuire and Macca. Didn't he also bring Merrin back? I rated Merrin in his first stint but not really first grade standard when he came back. Flanno has recruited Kyle, RFM and Eisenhuth. Though I thought RFM was better than he actualy is. All of them played some good games but is anyone saying thier mean rating was good? Maybe Macca in his first year was ok.

Griffin recruited Billy Burns as well. And I think there was one more of his old Broncos team. Was it Gerard Beale?

Bit different. Billy Burns was a young dude stuck behind gun backrowers at Penrith. I don't think he had played first grade.

That is my belief as well, any older experienced players that have managed to pull on a 1st grade jersey consistently and has the necessary qualities and experience that you would hope could be transposed to any younger rising star player. The old saying you can't put an old head on young shoulders is apt in this scenario.

Eisenhuth is not one of the biggest problem in this squad. Though there are older players in spades in this squad to provide a good example to younger players.

This over analysing and criticism of the top 30 is over the top.
It's a top 30 + 6 not a FG squad.
It's to fill FG and Cup thay are not all FG regulars if they were they would leave.
All clubs have nobody's and over 30 players
Here's a small snap shot of sone of Storm squad. 9 players of various ages that started 1 or no games this year.
They also had 5 players 30 or over.
How about we ease the f*ck up until the comp starts and teams are selected.
