Recruitment and Retention for 2026

Tino would potentially be our best & most important signing since Bennett. Elite middle who has already come from a great system, had leadership experience & is entering his prime. Perfect fit for us, honestly would use the money from Su'a & Luch contracts to get it done. GUN! He is exactly the type of player this club needs.

Agree except the Su’a part. Not sure why he’s on the nose with some supporters. Someone like Tino would take Su’a to another level. Must keep in my eyes. There’s plenty of other dead wood to get rid of before Su’a is even mentioned

I dont mind us going after the big name staff/players.. and for someone like Tino you need lots of time to prepare a package and TPA's and what not.. setting up a plan for family perhaps.. but.. we cant talk to him till Nov 1, the Bears are going to be gunning for a marquee middle and captain also on that date.. plus im sure we wont be the only existing NRL club after him.. not to mention the Titans.. who will probably sack Hasler which might alleviate the reasons he might want to leave...

But it also may prove to be very naive on our part.. maybe we need to find our Iongi.. maybe it was Pahulu or Mooney, or someone who cant make 1st grade but is more than ready.. I spose Guler did kind of fit that mould also.. kind of.

Su'a imo will be one of our highest paid next contract & I don't think he's worth it, especially with the 2rf coming through.

Imo if we're recruiting a fwd it has to be an experienced gun player, since we've already got heaps of good fwds coming through. Even guys like Mooney who was solid against us would be a roadblock to our other young fwds & take up salary cap space. I get it for the OBs though, since we don't have as many coming through nor the same high level quality.

Says its a player option for 2027, might be 1yr too long, but hes a good player its all good, but if we do get to the point Egan and Nick or Jacob are killing it.. its a little tricky, but u generally need a 3rd guy in the system, and maybe one of them can play another position in time.. not to mention Jacob will hopefully end up a middle.. I mean maybe not.. but it would help us kind of fit them all into the 17.. same could be said for Nick..

It is really ideal to have a couple of guys who could swap between the middle and 2nd row.. and even better if you have someone like Nick perhaps that could fill the centre role if we have an injury mid-game.. something like what Creagh used to do.. and Sua tbf is pretty decent at it also.

Su'A is good but I've been in favour of letting him go for a while. Cause I think Halaganhu and Egan are going to be very good next year and cost much less. Then there is CST a year or less behind those 2 and then Meafaou and god knows who else just behind him. Couchmans can also play backrow and Luicano probably won't have any takers for next year so we will have him for another year. Su'A however has been linked to Redcliffe for a while. If not Redcliffe he could get a deal elsewhere.

Though that was before the JDB situation. Halangahu and Egan in the backrow and Stewart at lock, Couchmans up front...... I'm all for a young team but that might be going a bit too far.

And forgot about Nick T! I'm definitely in favour of telling him he is free to look around now.

Forgot about CST.. Again another that plays like a middle (like Halangahu could), but I guess has the footwork to defend in the 2nd row? So is it a waste to play them in the middle? I dunno.. I do feel like were likely to lose 1 or 2 yet.. Sua could get a role at another club also.. the irony though that we are being linked to Luke Garner.. and were playing Micky Molo there against the raiders, but its our strongest position.. its our only strong position actually.. every other position im nervous about.

Obv Flanno doesnt quite feel like the young 2nd rowers (bar Egan) are ready, but he also hasnt given them a shot.. hopefully he will do that as the season wears down and finals are done.. I do hope were not competing for the spoon though where there would be pressure to play it safe.... but in order to avoid that spoon comp... were gonna need to beat atleast 1 of the roosters/dogs/cows games coming up..

They confirmed the interest on 100% Footy tonight, just gotta see if we can get this one over the line.. perhaps there is a reason the roosters r changing managers, I assume they have others on the books.. its only us running noone all this time.. but anyway.. not done yet..

Didn't the rooster sign up Joel Carbone from the raiders, not sure if they hold the same position...

Is Daniel Anderson confined to a wheelchair? I'm all for hiring people with disabilities but can he do such a job confined to a wheelchair? It seems to me he'd need to get around a lot, see a lot of games, meet a lot of people in such a job.

Apart from that disability, if he still has it, he's very well qualified.

I've been thinking about that, and I reckon 90% of his job will be on the phone, which is obviously ideal for someone with that disability.. can do it from anywhere.. and the challenge would be someone will have to get him to and from meetings with player managers, that wouldnt be too hard to sort out.. needs a lot of planning, but im sure he's quite used to that... I think if hes the best candidate we would go for it (and im not sure who the other options are), its really what comes out of his mouth that we need to be much better than what weve had to date.

I was thinking in terms of accessible workplaces as well.. the new COE I imagine will be modern with ramps and facilities... and im not sure where else he goes for his meetings, but im sure people will accomodate him, I imagine he is quite inspirational to deal with.

But in any case, lets wait to see it confirmed as per usual =)

So he still has the disability? I know some people can recover from it. At least to some extent. I guess the CEO knows what he's doing but I wonder why Parramatta don't hire him if he's good to go even with the disability.

Speaking of Parramatta, I've always thought Nathan Brown would be good in a position such as pathways or list management or coach in lower grades. Is he still employed by Parramatta?

Apparently Anderson’s been a bitter old twat since his accident

Couple roosters guys I know said he’s good with Junior talent ID but he’s made some baffling retention decisions

Was hopeful for Scott Fulton but obviously Anderson has made a good impression during interviews and at least Watford has identified a big issue and is making moves to rectify our situation

He’s gonna rely a lot on tape as he doesn’t go to many games and doesn’t have roosters wealth of resources/guys to lean on

Fingers crossed we’re looking back 2-3 years from now and getting Anderson’s been a master stroke
