Apparently Anderson’s been a bitter old twat since his accident
Unfortunately thats the crux of the decision.. all depends on his mindset since the accident.. I was hoping it was erring more on the side of inspirational than angry.. though I can completely understand if its both.... but I also wouldnt take 1 persons opinion on it, but hopefully we do our due diligence etc..

I would have liked to have gotten Scott Fulton BUT i don't know the issues with him, seems to be something as you would have thought he would have gotten a job since he departed WestsTigers and for us who tried getting POS over a year ago and failed, plenty of time to have signed him up..
Yep agree mate, there is something weird about this whole scenario, you would have to think he was the best going around.

Does it have to be someone with experience in the role? We already have Flanno with how many years of experience and even good ol Deano has been around for a while now. Or is that the issue? They need someone who won't be browbeaten by Flanno.

I think with the possible appointment of Josh Hannay, will make it harder, after QLD winning SOO and Hannay playing a big part in it, Tino may be more inclined to stay..
He's a very good player but cost-benefit, is he what this team needs? Is he supposed to play prop or lock? In place of LPT either of the Couchmans or Stewart? I know he's better than all of those but for the money Dragons would have to pay him, he'd better be much better. I rate the young Dragons forwards. I'm not sure if Tino is that much better.

Need a fullback. Gutho started the year strongly but has slowly gone downhill. He's not fast enough to be a top fullback anymore. Going to be that much worse next year. Titans have 3 young, high quality fullbacks and playing in the halves isn't working for 2 of the 3. Gutho needs to turn himself into a halfback until Kade Reed is ready to take over in 2 years.

Titans also have a few very speedy wingers and centres. Dragons could use one though Flanno would need to do some work on other areas of the game with them. Like getting in and helping out forwards much more. Also to stop rushing in so often when it isn't called for.

Tino is on a different planet to every middle we have mate, no disrespect to our kids but there’s levels to this and he’s a top 3/4 middle in the game

He can play big mins which is what you want from a middle, not Spencer Leniu on 600k playing 25 mins a game

I see what you mean about cost benefit and to an extent you have a point. No elite sides are paying 1.4m for a middle which is the minimum it would take to get him to leave and even then I’m not sure he’ll leave the titans

For clubs in a position like ours, it’s better if we stick to trying to find the next Tino/AFB/Fisher-Harris

Canberra have cracked it, they know certain clubs with their power and third parties can get the big names so they have really gone hard on their pathways recruitment to find the young stars who will develop into big names eg. Strange/Pattie

To be fair we have some superstar level potential kids like Halangahu/Lokoand Burton/Ah Kee are that tier as well for me

Couchmans/Egan/Stewart all big potential but not quite Haas/Tino tier which is fine because there’s only half a dozen forwards in that bracket

My big wish and I think it’ll help now with a Recruitment manager is no more signing old guys on big money, I was hesitant signing gutho for 3 years in particular and I think I’ve been proven corr ct, thank god we missed out on RCG or we’d be in dire straits

I dont think its possible to sign him.. hes under contract till Nov 1, hes a pretty loyal guy and made it clear he wants to see the direction the club is going.. and they will do everything to keep him.. Hasler already gone...I just dont think we have any chance, but obviously happy if we give it a crack..

Amen! FFS, why can't Flanno see this!?!?

FFS Amen! I can understand Holmes only because he's such an athlete, can cover multiple backline positions and kicks goals. Cook and Gutho are quality players but shouldn't have been signed due to age.

Every player coming in and out of the club is under his remit, even 16 year olds to an extent
So they had some kind of committee between the lower grade coaches, head coach, assistants, pathways but now they all report to Anderson who has the final say?

I'm so ignorant about how things in the back and front offices work. Maybe during the off season I'll make some kind of tree-map on how I think it works.

Not sure how the transfer committee tree worked previously but Flanno had a massive say which generally isn’t a good thing if your letting your coach dictate everything. Can let personal bias cloud his judgement and not look at things holistically

At least now there’s a guy in Anderson who is going to worry about this sort of thing and flanno can focus on coaching to save his job
