With all due respect, I don't buy that for a second. Gus Gould is more a legend in his own mind. I think the only way he goes to the Bulldogs is if they offer him significantly more money. Even if that means shares in a pub without the knowledge of the NRL.

But as you say it and as I've been wondering for a while............ he's good but what is the club to do with all these young forwards? Couchmans are surely #1 and #2. After that, who knows but we have Egan, Stewart, LPT, Halangahu, Nick T, Liu even without getting into Jersey Flegg or SG Ball ranks. Su'A is hardly a veteran. Hopefully JDB gets one more year. The club might have decided, for the money he's asking, he's surplus to the clubs needs. The only one missing is a really good hooker. Hopefully Kyan Hjaltason comes good. If not, maybe the club is keeping its powerder dry for a hooker.

We are letting go of a lot of players like RFM/Allan/Molo etc. so the top 30 needs to be filled out

Legitimately he could be in the NSW team in 3 years time, they better hope Hamish Stewart and whatever other forwards we have coming through go on to do great things because I’m that confident Latu will be a fantastic player.

We may regret letting this one slip through our fingers. He has been very good so far this season.

we have a lot of cash and spots that could be filled by middles, esp if we can move on Lawrie and Sele too (noting that id be perfectly happy for Sele to actually stay fit and play), question is where do they come from.. I know we would prefer someone aged 21-27 bracket than an 18yr old.. but how do we persuade them to come.. not like we havent been trying.

We’d be far better off targeting forwards in the 18-21 bracket, develop them for a year or 2 then promoting them to first grade based on merit

Opportunity > Money for players in that age bracket

Unless we solidify ourselves as a genuine finals side we’ll struggle to recruit elite NRL forwards when many clubs are throwing 600k+ at them

Young guys are the way out of the cellar

Dogs have no middles worth buying. That’s why they were after Pahulu and Latu.

They lost their 2 best middle prospects to the chooks.

The only guys id be chasing from the dogs pathways besides Mitch Woods is Kaawyn Patterson/Jai Callaghan/Sosaia Alatini

No to Woods for me. Reed is much better. Dragons have Couchmans, Stewart, LPT, Liu for middles. Egan can as well. Can and does do it well. Should look at which wingers and centres they have coming through.
