Oh that's good to hear. Important to show coaches also have pathways. Hope that can attract better quality coaches throughout the club.

Don't know anything about Davvy Moale but the other 3 and who we have already have would transform this team into a serious, top 4 team. In my view anyway.

The thing that gets me about the whole Tigers-Doueihi thing is that they low-balled him and were almost happy to let him go until the Dogs game. Then all of a sudden they're falling over themselves to keep him. What happens if he plays a shocker this weekend? Either they see the longterm value in the player or not. A pretty haphazard way to manage a roster and salary cap.

Imo crucial part is he can focus more on coaching with Anderson taking on the recruitment load.

I was hoping Dan Anderson would be on the podcast today, but it was Dan Lawson instead.. still interesting but rly keen to hear from Anderson.. that said until we have another name or 2 over the line (after securing Kerr but missing Douehi) he probably hasnt got too much he could add..

Note: Dan said the training session this week was the best he had ever seen... whether its enough to get over the sharks i dunno, but a great sign..

It normally works in reverse.
When a side has a good session they normally lose & when it’s a poor session they win. Just like horse racing you trial well you flop you trial sluggishly you win.

Sorry Dave03, I was replying to Dragon Tragic's comment about Doueihi's "commitment" to the Tigers now that he has got his new deal.

But I do agree that Flanno can now put all his thoughts and energies on coaching the team without worrying about having to set up meetings with players and their managers on coming to the club. I would imagine that there is so much that a Recruitment guru has got to do leading up to the eventual signing or not of a player. Should I offer this or that etc. Anderson's job now and he will do a good job I am sure of it.

Ya I think today's announcement has raised the thinking about possible assistants for 2026.. Remembering that flanno inherited both his assistants for 24/25.. Is there someone he's had in mind all this time? But maybe wasn't a priority when his own tenure was so fragile?

Or is he so confident in his own coaching he can make it work with nearly any assistant?

Also get the vibe from cookies interview this week that he's a big fan of Carr.. That said I'm sure there is plenty of room for improvement.. Even if Carr doesn't end up in the UK.. Potentially we could end up with 2 new assistants... Also a great time for Dean young to go better himself also..

I think a change of assistants every few years isn’t a bad idea. New ideas and freshen things up

I’m not just saying that because I don’t rate Young but genuinely lots of good coaches change assistants.

Alex Ferguson used to change assistants every few years even though Man united won 80% of their games and it turned out alright for him….

Again, don’t listen to anything Flanno says and take it as gospel, he lies to cover himself and the club

We made an offer to Finau Latu, the dogs just sold him the dream as they have with a lot of players because they have Gus + elite operators running the show

Many Managers have said Flanno isn’t very good at the sell and puts players off, so as long as he leaves it to Anderson with recruitment and only joins in when he’s told too we’ll get a few good players in the door

BTW, lots of players speak highly of Flanno in a coaching perspective (except Maloney) so he’s not bad with people but he just doesn’t have the gift of the gab like others

Yeah the word I hear is that it was the player negotiations that Flanno struggles with.. hes a bit too direct and probably grumpy after a long day of training on top... he doesnt 'play the game' as such.

Its not a skill I have, but I really admire those people who can negotiate well in a way is non-confrontational... its so disarming.. and you dont burn bridges even if the deal doesnt work out... thats the part that is critical because you need to maintain those relationships with player managers for the next signing... Latu is a great example.. Flanno blew up (justified or not) and there you go we wont be seeing any more players thru that channel anymore...

Hopefully its something Daniel Anderson can manage.. this is his bread and butter.. he knows what players r worth.. though I do feel he may have to realise a players worth doesnt equate to a player signed at our club... so im rly nervous about upcoming signings because I think (just like with Douiehi) we should throw 50-100k overs and get some of the decent players to us for 2026 because there isnt much out there and im not even sure how we r using our cap currently.. im rly hoping the club is sleeping on a couple of big signings to be announced end of season.. but im also not holding my breath..

Note: Just a note that Flanno was on SEN this arvo, he completely did not answer anything on recruitment.. just pushed it all to Anderson now.. like ive never seen him be that cagey before, hes clearly decided not to get in the way.
