Recruitment and Retention for 2026

It is mind blowing ...... one of my favourites can not believe it.
I'm close to if not the biggest critic of Flanno's recruitment and retention. Everyone wanted Ramsey to come back and do well but I'm backing DA on this one. Reading about his medical procedures, it might be very hard for him to get his body right for first grade. Not anymore than the odd game filling in. Better he goes to the Rorters, as bitter as that might seem now.

Anyone seen Quinn play this year? Was happy when he moved on tbh, lkt and reed were the big ones, I think we tried to get him to play fullback at one point but it wasnt enough.. But some kids just take longer.

I any case curious if it's just a nsw cup contract and where he's gonna play even..

Looks like a great signing by the Dragons once confirmed. I think Flanno and Co were dead set keen to get him. Quinn has improved since he left us and has grown quite a fair bit in height and weight so I expect that as a five eighth he will be putting pressure on LKT and Kyle.
You are not calling Kyle a 5/8 are you Dave ? :)

First 24hrs was tough, but im pretty comfortable with Cody moving on now, our offer was pretty reasonable I thought also.. so we were happy to have him stay on...

The question is do we have a young cup fullback incoming... or is it Sloans gig for 1 more year?

A lot of the fan angst is just we still have 3 or 4 recruits to come yet that could be super exciting or super disappointing, and until we know who we're getting.. its tough going.. honestly dont know how Ando sleeps at night, so much pressure on him delivering some names in the next 1-2 months...

I thought it might have meant some really good publicity if or when he returned to the NRL team but now that will go to the Rorters.

But I trust Dan Anderson knows what he is doing.

I remember hearing this name. Can't remember where but I think it was good.
Nick Quinn. He played ALL HIS JUNIOR FOOTY WITH ST GEORGE. Have always said he and Ashton Ward made an effective halves combo for us. Makes you wonder firstly, why we let him go and now why we want him back. Must be due to his improvement under the Souths coaching system as he is being called 'one of the Rabbits brightest young stars'.

Thats media hype, half these journalists don't know who they write about, its not like they would say, Saints have signed one of souths shittest players for 2026..

The same journalists (I use that term loosely) spent half a year raving about Lachlan Ilias's form.. I bet they have never watched an actual game (try highlights package at best)... that's why I don't really take any articles on junior players seriously..

And also like Ayios said, what is the alternative they can write? You cant lead with a story like "xxxxx signed a fringe reserve grade player who is unlikely to ever make it to first grade", they cant 'keep it real' even if they did have that intimate knowledge from studying the player over several seasons.... and tbf we are all just offering opinion anyway.... past performance is not a guarantee of future performance.. we all have an opinion but sometimes those players need a bit longer, but do eventually come good.. obviously the vast majority of them do not however... as is the nature of the most elite sporting comp in the country.. but.. sometimes they do (obviously we hope this is 1 such occasion with Nick).

Note: I also assume this means Hammoud will start his year in Jersey Flegg, maybe they feel he needs a little bit longer.. but with injuries who knows.

He's a halfback, not an outside back.
mr pedantic. Ok inside back but still a back mate. A half and a good one. Is Nick Quinn being positioned as his long term partner. With a few more kilos I see Quinn as a ball playing lock down the track, but can live with him as our long term 5/8. Tho it leaves LKT on the outer. Is the kid capable of playing dummy half when Cook goes as hate to see him forced out of our club..
