I don't mind the swearing. He should have been swearing at the the backs. All of them, 1~7. I don't mind Gutho. It's just he obviously isn't fast or agile enough to be a first grade fullback. I was astonished when Flanno signed him for 3 years.

Gutho is excellent in the attacking backline with his hands and brain, it's just the speed is gone.

Watching Drinkwater yesterday he is similar to Gutho with experience and cut outs, passing etc. But yes he dropped a few bombs and defence is very suss,lets hope having more speed and attack prowess is a gain for us.

I'm not a massive fan of him and being at games and seeing how he acts and talks from the back its no wonder his teams never do well. There is better ways to get your message across, look at Teddy and Edwards.. They don't carry on like that at all

Did not mention that after LKT went off injured in about 55 min, we lost a lot of structure in our attack. After Quinn left too Peckam Harris got more involved in the play making. This little dude grows on you.

What I determined the moment I heard we were targeting him. Seems defense is the poor cousin of attack when recruiting.

I've been saying for a while, I've seen nothing to suggest he is better than LKT. Recently I changed to say I think LKT is better Remember he's only 20.
But good luck to Atkinson today. Let's see how he goes paired with a decent halfback.
Atkinson is a good running 6. Give him a bit of time with a proper 7 and I’m sure you’ll be happy

I am not knocking the signing of Drinkwater, but Dufty has put into 2 very good performances for Souths over the last 2 weeks. We could have got him for 500K a season for 2 seasons and saved 400K over the next 2 seasons and 900K in 2029. By 2029 Burton should be well and ready for first grade fullback, if he lives up to expectations. That is what I would have done if I was our recruitment officer or coach.
Gray has been good for Souths this year, but I am questioning if Dufty has out performed him over the last 2 weeks and if Dufty could even keep his spot, when Gray recovers from his shoulder injury.

So after yesterday's debacle and based on the players statistics for the past 2 seasons. Also looking at our young stars coming through ressies, this would be my team looking towards the 2027 season:

That looks like a decent competitive engine room. The rest we need quality recruitment.
But you won't get those quality players until you appoint your 1st grade coach for 2027 before the November transfer window. That is our highest priority.

I just think Couchman's are much better in the middle than on an edge.
