I'm gonna have to disagree with Mr McKinnon.

Firstly, there is risk of injury for any player.
Secondly, that is the kind of money any half decent halfback and fullback gets. The kind of money he says Metcalf is worth, 550~600 is the kind of money halfbacks not much better than KF or 35 year-old halfbacks get.

As for Drinkwater, Burton is still a year away at very least and will surely start out as a winger or centre and 900k for a fullback of his quality is, frankly speaking, a bit of a bargain. He's a try assist machine. Not among the best fullbacks in other areas but he suits our needs.

Mr. McKinnon needs to write something. I'm not going to hold it against him but that's just me.

Maybe Mr McKinnon can try and write an article justifying how much Ponga earns per year at Newcastle and how many games he misses through injury and he’s on a truck load more than the 900 we paid for Drinkwater

I've never heard of #3 and #16.
#18 needs to go and #6 better do better. Much better or he'll be moved on ASAP.

1.25 mil for Ponga isn't that bad. But 1.25 mil for 10 years for Dylan Brown is utterly ridiculous. It will be biting Newcastle for many years to come.

There’s reports KP is on 1.4. Obviously we can’t be sure which one is right but a lot of coin for a bloke who does miss a fair chunk of games each year

3 is not confirmed, 4 I’m not sure is up for 1st grade, way too early to give him a staring centre role based on a very limited 2026, 18 can probably take a hike and you can add Reed or LKT instead of the big lug. Other than that, looks about right but I’d be happy to keep Suli

I know we need some more quality signings but we need to be very careful not to over spend because of the restrictions that the salary cap imposes. We need some strong and speedy centres/wingers but also we need depth so we either wait til the young ones get their chances or sigtn outside but not to overpay for them. I'm sure that Anderson has got this under control.

Alex McKinnon has said his piece about us signing Metcalf and Drinkwater - but who would come to us if we pay unders? Bloody no one worth putting into first grade is what I think.
