Round 10: St. George Illawarra vs New Zealand Warriors

Jack #1 again.

Giant Loko with a strong debut.

Jeez hope we have not lost Toby for two long. Jo it may just be for as long as you say he needs to rest. Perhaps bench him for a few matches when he returns.
I'm just speaking from personal experience albeit on ressies and many moons ago. As a coach sometimes you just have to bite the bullet and think of the young fellas welfare. Tonight he was a passenger out there and in my opinion you simply cannot afford passenger's in 1st grade.

3. JDB
2. Holmes
1. Liddle

Honorable mention to LKT and LPT.
Mate I must disagree. In regards to LKT honourable mention. It is in games such as these that you need to back yourself as a half and a play maker. He disappointed me tonight. The big fella well yes I agree. He just needs to stand a touch deeper in their red zone and it won't be long before he scores a try

LKT has promise but looks a touch short of what is needed from our half. Agree needs to back himself more. Ilias had same prob, did back himself in Ressies and looked a different player.

I thought LKT was fine, had that shitty error at the end that will linger in people’s minds but he didn’t really get many touches and when he did he looked dangerous

He got caught going across field slowly earlier as well before his error which he managed to offload the ball

It’s a learning curve, just needs to realise these inside defenders will keep on moving and pressure you to release the ball much earlier than he’s used to in Reggie’s

His halves partner was an embarrasment again, what did he actually do tonight as the senior half?

Gutherson poor again, hasn’t had a good game for a while

But worst of all, my god Luciano Leilua
4 errors with the ball in hand plus was at fault for Metcalf’s try. Shane’s signings been awful besides Tuipolotu and Val

It is so obvious that we lack quality in several positions. I don't profess to know the answers and I am not sure if Flanno knows as well.

It is also obvious that Holmes has lost the Midas touch with his goal kicking and we could have won today like in earlier games if his kicking was better.

Gutherson lacks pace, Sloan is better at fullback than on the wing.

Still too many errors and penalties at crucial times.

We really haven't a game manager and a player able to change the course of the game like Stephen Chrichton did for the Bulldogs today.

Back to the drawing board and finding a plan to beat the Broncos next week will be a big task for our coaches.

The Panthers will leapfrog us tonight if they beat the Cowboys so we are getting closer and maybe remaining in the bottom 3-4 for a few weeks.

Agree on both points DD. Sloan specially outside Suli is being hamstrung. He should be making double his metreage. Note how he burned his opposite late in the game when Suli finally gave him the pill. Mate I cant see Flanno returning Sloan to the back for Gutho.

We will get f*cking mogged by the broncos, Reynolds/Haas/Carrigan/Staggs/Willison will cut us apart

Fair to say we concede minimum 30 points, the craziest part is Shane will probably drop Loko and LKT for some reason.

I’ll be completely off him if that’s the case, gotta pray Toby’s shoulders ok as well or we are absolutely cooked

Just the views of an.old retired coach. I completely disagree with people saying that LKT an Flanagan went ok tonight. I base this simply on my own experiences. The game tonight demanded that our play makers stood up.

They didn't. It's easy to say that they didn't receive the service. My expectations are then you go look for it create, communicate, its their job to do that. If you don't and just play your attacking structures and be happy with that then your attacking is going to offer no surprises and be pedestrian then you accept mediocrity.

Tonight's stats for our play makers were:
LKT - 5 runs for 33m
Flanagan - 4 runs for 23m.

To me that is unacceptable. You must as a player maker create doubt in the mind of the opposition, take on the line. Until this or any other combination we come up with does then we simply cannot win enough games to play semi finals football.
