Round 15 v Sharks

Maybe Leilua moves into the prop rotation for the rest of 2025??
Leilua to my eye is either carrying an injury or is unfit because he is a shadow of himself in relation to his effectiveness.

Avg 9 runs a game 80m a game, has made just the 1 linebreak all season. 4 linebreak assists , avg 1.75 tackle breaks a game. I wouldn't have him in my 17 let alone play him as a bookend. Just my views.

He should be immune from criticism if he has a Barry Crocker against the sharks considering he’s a backrower and who fills in at centre when necessary

Very good attacking side with great backrowers and centres, can only wish him well and hope he takes to first grade like a duck to water
So a backrower to play centre , so what does that say about the centre's that play there every week ...... ? I hope he has a blinder .......

To be honest I never thought he would debut as a centre but I guess Flanno has made that call. Tough debut indeed
Agree, to me it smacks of desperation which I find hard to understand or believe from this particular coach. Its wonderful for a coach to have faith in youngsters but honestly he has played his whole career as a 2nd rower, developing his skills in that position albeit since being promoted to Ressies has played centre.

I like Luc but he has been way off this year. Sad cause when he is fit and firing he can be a game changer. Definitely not the case this year

Who do you suggest he selects.
I dont know, I did ask you if there were any experienced players available. I was looking at moving Lawson to centre, swallow my pride and reinstate Sloan to wing of Finau, or if Allan was available.

We started the season in ressies with Allan/Lawson so both would be more experienced.

You surely know better than me that this kid is no centre. Up until now he has been developing his skills as a 2nd rower.

Even the kid said at the start of this season that he is learning how to play against the men.

Look I hope he has a good game and holds his own against either Sharks centre but that's a very big ask against those 2 especially after they were belted at home last week.

We were just discussing that we need to find an new enforcer for the future and this kid may fit the bill.

How are we as a club find ourselves in this position?

Like I said in an earlier post, people blow up and want changes, Flanno puts his balls on the line and puts the young bloke in and people still blow up lol. Can’t win either way
I'm not blowing up, I know from personal experience how hard it is to achieve a 1sts jumper. This kid could be something special not many 2nd rowers can also play centres competently.

But I also know that both physically and mentally we are asking a lot of this kid . I just hope this doesn't affect his continuing development.

Allan, Feagai injured
Buchanan NSW under 19s

Lawson has played 10 games of Rugby league 4 as centre and his inexperienced was shown up last week.

Nick 20 Cup games the last 6 as centre.
His stats for those games,
4 tries, 5 TAs, 120m average per game, 91% Tackle, 9 line-breaks 31 tackle breaks.
He might not be fast but he'd be close to Suli more agile with better lateral movement.

He may let in a try but he is also a good chance of scoring one or putting Sloan away

Very impressive stats, as I said you don't get to see a young player being able to play 2nd row/ centre. He could be one out of the box especially in the near future.

I know Lawson was smashed last week but I was impressed by his resilience, he has been caught out defensively in both games but hes tough and still learning this game.

In the coach we trust

Again, no one asked me but if Egan, Ryan Couchman, Su'A, Holmes, CT were all available, I think it would make a big difference. LKT, LPT, Tonga, Toby Couchman, Stewart have all matched or exceeded expectations IMO. But Gular, Klemmer, RFM, Eisenhuth when he was still playing have all been duds. I know a lot of people will disagree but IMO Cook, Gutho and Holmes have only been ok. Not good.

I believe that especially those 3 were in reality brought into the club to provide experience and to pass on that experience to our young rising stars.

All 3 would be on their last or 2nd last professional contracts in the NRL. I have no issues with any of them because of my original expectations of them on the park.

Our juniors coming through are very good , in fact the best for many years but they need to be taught their trade and you can't put an old head on young shoulders. Just my views

I don't have issues with them either. They have been ok.

There’s a bunch of signings made over the years where you just know on face value alone it’s a bad/risky signing

Luciano for big money, Hame Sele for decent coin with his injury history, Sloan on decent coin who’s probably gonna end up in ESL

Roster Management is so important, these low wage little risky signings like RFM as a back up second rower is fine but we can’t afford to miss when we go big on players

Top 30 spots are like gold in the NRL so wasting them on unwanted players just bites the club in the arse time and time again when a signing goes bad like the guys i mentioned before

Trust in the development of players in the pathways program like the young fellas that we have debuted this year and I can assure you the roster depth and quality 18 months in future will be LEVELS above where we are at right now

Not to mention knowing the value and worth of a player we have on the books is PARAMOUNT when they are off contract eg. Sav Tamale and Finau Latu

Player quality and squad balance are 2 different thing.
We are always going have a risk in signings because of our position as a club overall.

I said back in November that our squad was out of balance and now we are seeing it.
A lot of it is on Flanno plus poor previous recruitment.

Feagai was a decent re-signing as a wing he could play centre and was playing well as FB in cup.
It gave us 4 wingers with CT Finau and Rav, we then signed Lawsin and made Sloan a winger making 6.
Allen was a sympathy signing.
It left us skinny in centre and FB.

Tom should never of been signed that could of been a back up centre, FB.

BMM supp spot should of gone to a Jesse Marschke type back, plenty of cup experience and could fill in in FG if needed.

But what do I know.
