Any doubt our season wasnt already done and dusted before this match.. has now been dispelled.

Yes it was a good comeback but it is another failure for Griffin. What is his tally now.. 44 matches 17 wins. That is an abysmal record. Were those sacked coaches as bad at that. Be interesting to see what Mary's worst poor run was?

That I accept. Amone as a running 5/8 with an organiser as his partner will work.
Your halfway there then. Amone showed me tonight what I have feared all along, and that is he is not up to it unfortunately. His stats for a playmaker and organiser were abysmal. 6 runs, 53m, 0 line breaks ,0 tackle breaks, made 18 tackles and missed 5. Seriously if we chase this young kid and throw money at him to stay under this present management and coach it wouldn't surprise me. When the game is on the line, when the pressure is on to create something he went missing. How in the he'll did 2 forwards have their hands on the ball on the last tackle inside the Sharks 10m line? That kick Su'a put in should have been where Amone should have screamed for the ball. Watch the replay it was diabolical. In this current structure where the coach just wants him to catch and pass is not doing this kid any favours. He really would be better off at another club that would have confidence in his previous creative runs. Just my views.

No and therein lies your and the clubs problem misguided belief and loyalty. In all my years in RL never no matter what grade your coaching has the entire assistant coaches been shown the door without having the coach also shown the door. It destabilises the whole club from seniors right down to your representative juniors.

I've been saying it for months.
You know sometimes in life whether it be work or sport related you fail. The fit isn't right for you or your employer. The hardest thing is to admit that and start again elsewhere. This is what we are seeing now at the Dragons.

Yes he is proving he lacks the natural organizing ability. He may still grow into one. I blame our attack coach and Ben Hunt for not tuturing or mentoring him better. The kid was thrust into Firsts and at 5/8. Has he even played in this position since his Ball days. But like I said in my post his forte looks to be as a running 5/8, using his nifty footwork to break defenses, backing up, neat short kicks, etc while his halves partner is the designated team organizer. Amone will need guidance tho from the incoming attack coach if he is to be a long term player for us.
The issue here for me is I watched him in juniors then reserves and he was playing his natural game as you have highlighted but and a big but for me is that there is no semblance of that game since cracking 1sts. It would appear to me that they have coached his natural game out of him and I'm sure you may have seen that before no matter what grade you play or coach once you have had your natural game changed it can be extremely difficult to return to what you once had.

..and who is leading our attack. I rest my case jo.
Your case is flawed watch the replay. Hunt is set up on the left edge yelling and expects the ball. The bloody dummy half passes it to the right edge where clueless Amone is suppose to be standing Su'a gets it and has to kick. The second one again Hunt is in position and for God knows why young Molo runs into the teeth of the Sharks online defence and dies with the ball obviously his right to left passing is non existent. Neither time is it our playmakers fault. It is the poor structure in attack every man and his dog knows where the playmaker Hunt is standing its their job to get it to him.

He's clueless because that's how they are coached.

Well I know when I coached we would run through our plays starting from our own line if we were trapped in a corner. So every 25 yards back then. Inside the opponents 25 yard line we had set plays and everyone knew to look up and listen for our playmakers calling out the plays. Last night when the game was on the line everyone was doing their own thing looking for that 1 big play that could have tied up the game. That is the epitome of a team divided.

From the outside looking in, looks like the place if rife with infighting. Why else would Graham be sacked? The junior teams he is working with are the one shining light.

My thoughts exactly the club is in internal turmoil and the results on the park from junior reps to 1st grade in recent weeks is showing that.

I didn't see the game and I know Sims sin binning didn't cost us but I saw a replay of that hit. One of my pet peeves. It was an accident and deserved the sin bin but if the Shonkies winger hadn't been falling, Sims would have hit him in the chest.

Water under the bridge now. He's played his last game for the Dragons.

How were the stats and what do you make of them?
One day people will realise that footy isn't a complicated game like chess. I beat on about this but I have played and coached using this simple basic stats. 3 x forwards running 100m plus make you competitive, Sims, JDB and Su'a did it Lawrie just missed out by 2m so that box was ticked, Sharks only 1 forward but 3 of their backs ran for 150m plus, only 1 for us so we held our own in the middle of the ruck but allowed too many run metres in the backline. Hold the bloody ball, I set 75% we had 77%, Sharks only 70% another ticked. Missed tackles 30 is the goal we missed 34, Sharks excellent 23, and that with our inability in the backline to hold them ended up being the difference. Plus we showed a lack of composure inside their 20m .Sharks were poor but got away with it, it was an ugly win but that's the difference between a winning and losing culture.
