Round 21 vs North QLD

There is only Nick left to blood who would make us a better team.. him and Heidke who is assumably injured anyway. Too little too late on that front though, could have been 6 weeks ago before we lost all the close ones.

The rest would just be for 2026.. Liu and Halangahu.. pointless to play Glover.. Id rather LKT over Ilias even with the dud game tonight.

e certainly hasn't done too good of late.
Been saying the same, had a feeling my comments were not too popular. Some here bagged Sloan mercilessly over his failings when he was custodian. Not sure Gutho has been much better, even in defense. He does tho have some ball in hand skill which unfortunately Sloan did not adopt until well into his last year.

I say keep our juniors for KOE and hope they can at least do something for the club, I wouldnt want them tainted with the stench our NRL side is, let alone introducing them into a losing culture.
Good point Jd, but I did say only a few pre final games. Dont ya think it is important that club bosses see how these kids handle the step up.

Because of Craig you mean? In my personal view since 2018 we appointed people into positions of head coach without due diligence and we are still paying the price of those years 2018 - 2023 . Young is highly regarded believe it or not in the coaching circles but not for his on field results. I'm sure he had a short stint as head coach in 2020?
Yes, after McGregor got the bullet in August 2020. Mary won the final game as head coach for the Dragons on 14 August 2020 after beating the Eels which was an upset. Dean Young became the interim head coach from 16 August 2020 and went on to win two out of six of the final games in that year. The first game Young took over as the head coach, the Dragons beat the Broncos 28-24 at Suncorp, then lost 4 in a row then in the last game of 2020 beat the Storm 30-22 at Netstrata Stadium, Kogarah.

The Board re-signing Mary was a big mistake as was the signing of Hook. Now we have had a year and 6 games shy of another year of Shane Flanagan and those 6 games consist of Raiders (H), Sharks (H), Warriors (A), Rabbitohs (A), Sea Eagles (H), Panthers (H). The only thing that might help us win a game or two will be games being played at home. If we can win three that will help us avoid the Spoon. I bet you thought I was going to say "that it will help us make the finals" - sorry, we would have to win all six games and that would be a miracle of all miracles.

I am fairly certain the old phrase "we cant make finals but we want to finish strong for our fans" will rear its head. Our season was done and dusted with approx 10 games to go, another year of frustration, disappointment and just being a total rabble.

At least LKT had a few try assists. That's all I'll say about our halves. Well, maybe that and I wish LKT would do what Dearden does; that is take the ball right to the line, shape to pass, but not pass instead run it. A classic example was the try Drinkwater scored when Dearden beat Cook and LKT or I think it was the try Robson set up early when he beat Klemmer and JDB doing that.

Unfortunately in defence tonight, LKT got owned at least 4 or 5 times which led to tries every time. I’ll give the kid a break as it’s been a big year for him so far and the kid is still learning. Hopefully he keeps his chin up and bounces back next week cause he’s better than that
And that is called development. Now the no.1 issue for him is to learn and improve. If he does that then he will continue to play 5/8 in 1sts. But he needs to own his performance tonight. Sit down and watch the replay specific to him. Because you can bet your last $$$ that's exactly what the Raiders will be looking at this week when Ricky develops their game plans for us next week.

At least one was Cook's fault.
But is he that slow Dearden can take advantage of Cook rushing up to run straight around LKT?

I want this season to be over asap, i want our elite juniors coming in fresh next year with our injured juniors back on deck. The COE will be up and running and Flanno will be on his last throw of the dice. No KF in the halves and some mobile forwards. Maybe we retain Sloan, he played ok yesterday but sadly we may have lost Finau. What a way to finish this season, I cant see us winning another game, and that will make it 6 wins for the year with possibly a bottom 2 finish if not the spoon. Lets hope that Watsford can sort out this basket case of a club and just not become a Board puppet !!! The mighty red V that once was is nothing short of disgraceful now, its actually embarrassing the way this club has self imploded since 2010. How many more years now is this club going to hack not being in finals, and quote of the day is " the season is still alive" FMD!!!!

Is Finau confirmed gone? I thought he was looking around but not gone yet.

The most important thing is for Watsford to shut down any talk of KF playing first grade. Order Flanno to tell him to look around. There is no possibility of him getting a deal in the NRL but ESL is possible. He'll still be getting paid well with Dragons paying a significant %. If he's any good at all he's still young enough to go over there for a year and then get a deal as a depth player for Perth.

Then Flanno can stop worrying about shoe-horning a spot for Kyle and instead concentrate on building a good team.

Is it too late? Next year there will be improvement. This year might turn out even worse than the first year JDB was stood down. There has to be improvement but enough for Flanno to get an extension? Not sure. I think maybe not. Is the right thing to pull the trigger on Flanno now?
