RVH, I think Gus knew well in advance that the Bulldogs had to have Galvin.
As soon as Gus said on either his podcast or the channel 9 show that Galvin is the greatest youth prospect he's ever seen, the deal was in the works.

Gus knows what makes a great player and he sees Galvin having so much natural talent.

Players with natural talent are the ones we should be seeking. Easier to coach and prepare for games and on the field just knows where to run, when to pass, when to kick, what players are weak in the opposition and play to those weaknesses. These players also know how to defend, kick conversion goals, penalty goals and field goals. The works. LIke finding gold in a haystack - in other words hardly that many available. That's why Gus targeted Galvin knowing what he will become one day.

Personally I reckon Galvin is overrated and Bulldogs were better with Sexton at halfback. Though in a year or 2 Galvin will be a very good 5/8.

Looks like they have put the cue in the rack this year. De Belin has lost interest, ditto Klemmer, Su'A knows how JDB feels but doesn't have the determnination to carry the pack as JDB did for a few years, Lawrie belongs in NSW Cup, the backs have ability but are too slow to take advantage of half chances.
