Round 24 - DRAGONS vs Tigers at Parra (Sun 4pm)

So many things a team needs to be better at to game the system

Number 1 - in yardage the minute you hear 6 again offside just drop the ball .. the ref has to award a full penalty.
Number 2 - if you are hit high, dont lie down, get to your knees ASAP but dont play the ball immediately, wait for the trainer to come see you. If you stay on the ground chances of HIA increase but get to knees that drops dramatically

How good is back to back wins? Can we dare to dream that we may just avoid the spoon?

Positives:
- We showed great resilience to get momentum back at the beginning of both halves when the Tigers had a heap of posession. In the recent past we give up in these situations and let the opposition dominate.

- Hamish is going from strength to strength in the second row. He, LKT, Val and Sloan are producing some great attack on the left edge which is great because not much is happening on Kyle's side. Well done to the Big D on unleashing Hamish on the edge it is paying dividends already.

- Scramble defence was pretty good overall, we made some crucial one on one tackles especially towards the end to stop the Tigers come back.

Negatives:
- The right side attack is still pathetic and I feel sorry for Egan that he isn't being given as much opportunity as Hamish to show his attacking credentials, we can thank KF for that.

- We need to get out of the business of trying to defend narrow leads with 20 mins to go. 12 points is nothing in the modern game, we put the cue in the rack and stopped trying to score points for the last 20 mins which helped the Tigers back in to it. We should keep looking to score points and go on with the win. This is a key reason why we haven't seen many big margin wins for such a long time.

- Who do we have to cosy up to so that we can finally get some fair officiating? Multiple high tackles/HIAs with no repercussions or penalties whatsoever.

Agree with you I I'm Hornby. Yes the right side needs a lot of work. KF has no flare and is too robotic. Replacing him with Metcalf or Reed next year will improve that. LKT on the improve very much so and while Atko isn't my cup of tea at full back, he acquitted himself OK. Haven't read why Gutho didn't play. I think if he had played today we would have been better. Next week will be great if we can jag three in a row. 🤞

But it was the players actions ie the challenge that drew the penalty - the system rewards diving its f*cking pathetic
How many times have you seen a player get hit in the head and the bunker tell the ref to blow a penalty...if the bunker can indicate its a penalty when you challenge it they certainly can tell the ref, that was high they had ample time to do it.

Bloke in a bar giving Loko a wrap on his Instagram story for the effort to swing across field and save that line break with 2 mins to go
I am still a bit shattered that it was required or we lose the game.. but thank god he did.. have to say all our young forwards have good pace.. egan, couchies, loko, stewart.. they can all chase its very refreshing.. just need a bit more pace from our backs.

Just glad they got it done aye, winning is a habit and losing is a habit

Would much rather we’d have won that a comfortable 24-6 but as long as we grind out some wins that’s good enough IN NRL level

Good for the young fellas to end the season with a couple wins before some class arrives next year

Had to go out for dinner so couldn't comment but watching the 2nd half only in glimpses the Tigers woke up to the fact that our right edge defence was poor. Thank god they realised that too late.

We still certainly lack a genuine game manager who can shut the game down in the last 10. Thats what I gleamed out of today's game.

Of course I will always take the win but the Bulldogs will be certainly targeting that edge next week.
