Round 4 v Storm - Sat 3pm

We're versing the Melbourne Storm after our bye, can we upset them again? Who knows...

The bye has come at the right time, as it allows Klemmer to get familiar with his new team mates & everyone to reflect on what needs to improve moving forward. Imo, it starts with our defence, both in general play & goal line which has been poor. Melbourne showed ominous form against the Eels but will be coming off a hopefully bruising encounter against the Panthers. Liddle needs to get more minutes, don't wait until after half time to bring him on.

Outs: Lawrie
Ins: Klemmer

I'd start with Klemmer alongside JDB as our props with Guler on the bench.

Toby Couchman lock? I like that.

Not a doctor so I wouldn’t know but aren’t rib cartilage injuries something that can be needles before a game. Like it’s more of a pain management issue than anything else
Possibly, but he was needled at 1/2 time and it didnt help him, i think its a few weeks injury

NRL Physio said it was a pain management issue, but end of the day if the halftime management didnt help.. that could be a worry.. like it could be a season-long thing he has to deal with potentially?

Just did some more googling below.. Matterson broke some ribs (assume thats the worst case), they reckoned 3-4 weeks to let the bones to heal.. im sure if it was a final or something it could be fast-tracked.. and Gutho played with broken ribs.. I suppose the risk is that they dont get re-injured.. and potentially take him out of the game too... the good thing is we do have 2 weeks rest coming, and tbh the storm game would be a miracle of a win.. so I suppose he could be rested for a 3rd week if necessary..
One of the most painful injuries in footy - usually requires at least a few weeks out to allow for bone healing. Often a 3-4 week return to play.

I'd run with Klemmer and Guler only because I've always said JDB best position was lock. I mentioned in another post that the Panthers will bounce back and its not going to be a flogging. I also hoped for a very physical game which will help us no end. So far so good

His position is lock but he's probably the best prop we have as well.

That was a tough game between arguably 2 of the top 3 teams this season. Im hoping that it will take its toll both physically and mentally on the Storm and give us a sniff but to be honest their pack especially their bookend rotation makes them hard to beat. Munster back to his best 3 try assists via his boot.

Still I use to say to my troops well your about to test yourself against one of the best teams in the comp. Its going to be tough but also exciting leave everything you have on the park.

Good win no one picked last year but somehow I can't see history repeating here. I think last year they already had their eyes on the finals.

How good did the young rookie 5/8 and fullback play for the Panther's last night ......... Only a hand full of games and they had their team in the contest .......... Lots of teams are blooding young players , us hesitant to have a couple on the field at the same time .......

They went well to my eye though their inexperience in the last 15 minutes probably cost them a chance at a golden point game. In saying that they were playing against arguably the best halves pairing in this competition. Young Cole did very well and I suppose that is the difference at the moment between the Panthers juniors pathways v the rest. I am although very pleased the way our juniors pathways is growing towards their model. Give it a couple of years and we should be on equal footing with the best. Exciting times ahead

The future is now! With the way the first grade is team has not only lost but the way they have played, LPT, Latu, Egan, Tsougranis, Lawson, LKT, Finau, hell maybe even Glover, should be in contention. No, I'm not saying they all should be in the first grade team but at least 1 or 2 should and as many as 3 or 4 should.
