SGI NSW Cup
Four losses from four games. The clock is ticking for SF.
I have been losing interest for a very long time. Especially over the last 8 years.Agree and same for me, I've actually had enough and I'm losing interest in the entire club even the junios sadly.
Gonski .........The way they played tonight he may have already lost the sheds
There are 2 sides to coaching:...
Our coaches are generally hit and miss at the moment. They lack ability to coach effectively in the fields to which they are assigned.
...
I don't think they played well in Veges. The goal line defence was good and Dogs attack was bad. There are 2 sides to coaching:
The first side: Having ideas about how to play. The various NRL coaches have various strategies, tactics, gameplans. Some are better or worse than others. But for the most part these ideas are good enough to win the game if the team can implement the gameplan.
The second side: Getting the players to implement the gameplan.
The second side is by far the most important. Consider Wayne Bennett. He's definitely no tactical genius. But historically he has been brilliant at getting the players to do what he asks.
Dragons played very well in Vegas. They played OK against Storm. They were poor against the Eels. They were woeful against the Titans. This slide in performance is very concerning.
The coaches aren't able to get the players to execute the gameplan. This is after 3 preseasons and full control over the roster.
Good against the Storm. They played OK against Storm.
This has been the Dragons playbook under consecutive coaches.Outdoes how solid they were in the first 55-60 mins
Sir, it's an 80min game, not 55~60min game.Good against the Storm.
Cant believe Flanagan left big Loco and Jake to warm the bench all match. No mind that their size coming on fresh in the second stanza may have been just the tonic to lift us at the back end. But the worst aspect is what it will do for the pairs confidence. Sack this coach please!
Even in the first 60 there were too many errors in attack and we conceded soft tries in defence. Overall, I say we played OK, because our forwards went toe to toe with them.Nah, the last 20 mins was horrific
Outdoes how solid they were in the first 55-60 mins
Tell that to the coach as he is the one that should have us operating at full tilt to the final second. Reason I wanted Young as coach as he said the same but in other words. I have a feeling as boss he'd have had the sheds. But he is not the boss.it's an 80min game, not 55~60min game.
I think I saw Halangahu with a card.I expect that at the 60 min mark Luc would have come off and Halangahu on ... the head clash destroyed that.
Loko vs Kerr was the other decision i would have queried.
Neither team attacked brilliantly in Vegas. But it was a high quality game. Very intense. Lots of ball in play. Bulldogs played better against us than Storm did. If we played like we did the last 3 weeks in Vegas, the Dogs would have murdered us.I don't think they played well in Veges. The goal line defence was good and Dogs attack was bad.
Leave Luch on, one of our best, hook Guler and Kerr. No bloody excuse for Flanagan, they should've had some game time over the 80 mins.
Was Buchanan on KF's side? Both halves were very bad. Atkinson has a kicking game but not much else. KF has nothing. At the ground sitting just under the coaching boxes gives you a different perspective of the game live.
I just watched the replay on TV.
What I saw live was not 1st grade standard. I think we broke the record for sideways runs.
Possession was about equal, 51% v 49%, our completion rate appeared ordinary, but at the ground looked better than theirs and was 78% v 73%
We looked very pedestrian in attack with no attacking structures tonight unlike last week against the Eels where we constructed two beautiful tries albeit we lost.
To my eye at the ground our props didn't lay the platform hence we were running sideways trying to create opportunities which we didn't.
Guler was poor as was Kerr when he came on. Lawrie tried hard but you could see live that we weren't reaching the advantage line and struggling to get to our attacking structures.
We made more runs but ran for less metres, how does that happen? That is a big indicator that your team is running sideways instead of forwards and it looked like that at the ground.
We scored 2 tries against a team before tonight leaked points on a regular basis, avg 32 per game up until last night.
There appeared to be a lack of leadership and lack of on field talk. I believe I saw 1 linebreak, Sloan?
What was wrong with Holmes defence tonight? I noticed he misread a few defensive situations, missed 3 tackles.
Our halves definitely did not run the ball, 10 runs between them for 67m . Atkinson was ordinary to my eye missed a heap of tackles tonight, made 21 but missed 6, the Titans targeted him. Leilua and Buchanan missed 4 a piece.
There were a lot of missed tackles tonight 3 which led directly to tries., 2 by Leilua, in total we missed 33.
To my eye the best in attack were Leilua and Stewart, he tried hard Stewart definitely our future.
In my view and it was noted by others that I was with who were all Titans fans was we very badly missed those Couchman boys with their running game in the middle of the park
Buchanan was poor tonight, Sloan scored a try otherwise went missing in action, 9 runs for 75m.
Where to now? Cowboys at home next week and I can't see us turning things around with the same run on pack. They will be on a high after beating the highly rated Storm.
The possibility of a 0 - 5 start to the season seems a distinct possibility.
