SGI NSW Cup
Just arrived home. Wow a Red V 38-16 demolition of Gold Coast.
Not sure. That was the worst I've seen. Their wingers both caught the Ravalawa disease then some. It was astonishing.Best overall performance we’ve had in a while, the line speed was way better especially in the first half.
Think Egan just cemented himself into the starting side after tonight.
Not getting ahead of myself because we all know how inconsistent this side can be, just go play like that against manly next week is all we can ask
137 run metres. 4 offloads. 1 line break. 1 line break assist. 32 tackles. How many minutes did JDB play for how many run metres, how many offloads, how many line breaks? Wanna talk about a masterclass? That's a masterclass. But he never gets the credit. If he's injured, suddenly forums are buzzing about how he's an old man and shouldn't have been re-signed.
Couchman, Holmes, Egan also excellent. Stewart as well.
Flanagan with his try assist, Sloan with his 3 tries. Better against very average opposition. I'm still gunning for Ilias or Flanagan to make way for Glover or King-Togia and Sloan for Finau.
Still a bit too much side to side attack on some occasions for me, Flanagan should kick more, looks like he has been working on that, but all you can do is win. Young Egan was outstanding 79 min only came off as a result of an arm injury, 13 hit ups, 122m, 51m post contact, goes well for the futureBest overall performance we’ve had in a while, the line speed was way better especially in the first half.

Manly will be without Tom Trbojevic. Big opportunity to get a win. So far this year we have one big injury (Ryan) but very fortunate apart from that. I don't think the injured reserve graders, Sele, Eisenhuth, BMM, would be in first grade even if they were fit.As I have been saying consistently since joining this forum, forwards win games, the backs decide by how much. This game is an ideal example of that old saying.
So last night, 5 forwards ran for 100. +, I can't recall that happening for sometime now. We avg 46m a set, our biggest go forward this season. Hence this laid the platform for our much maligned halves to have both time and room to move and execute our attacking structures. Our attacking structures on both sides of the park are well thought out, execution and field position is the key there.
Last week our halves had 16 runs between them for 100m, this week 22 runs for 173m, so a big increase in metres run.
With the forwards actually going forwards our backline was set deeper allowing more time and freedom for our backs. Last week the backs ran a combined 754m, this week 846m. That's the positives .
Now the negative, you won't be able to win many games this season based on a completion rate of 72% that is poor, Titans 75%, last week it was 73% and we lost. That is an area of concern holding the ball, completing your sets has to be a priority at training this week.
Kicking game is also a cause of concern last night 16 kicks for 380m, Titans 21 for 537m. That gets you field position more often than not.
Next week the Sea Eagles away so we will have to step up again, in this mad season so far it is becoming quite obvious if you fail to turn up with the right mindset you will get rolled. Consistency is the key to playing semi finals football this season. Here's hoping we find that consistency.
I believe Guler is back so if thats right he would have to be in the 17.Manly will be without Tom Trbojevic. Big opportunity to get a win. So far this year we have one big injury (Ryan) but very fortunate apart from that. I don't think the injured reserve graders, Sele, Eisenhuth, BMM, would be in first grade even if they were fit.
That is why he has been our #1 for the past decade plus. He thrives on work and just lives to play for the RedV. Give him a final year swan song in '26.137 run metres. 4 offloads. 1 line break. 1 line break assist. 32 tackles.
I have Jack and Egan stats, who were the other three Jo. Betting Toby was one.o last night, 5 forwards ran for 100.
Need a couple of Lomax type aerialists. Sloan is good in the air need to kick towards his side more.We suck at territory & don't have good aerial players
Other way round for me. Flanagan is in his what, third year with us and he has never truly impressed me outside of one trial game in '24. He is a trier but simply lacks quality. Ilias is still learning what his role is. Gutho should be a good judge of a player and he rates him. That satisfies me.All I know Ilias has to go before Flanagan
Has returned to his best past two games. How was his goal kicking last nite..Holmes
Illias played better but I think sometimes his kicks should be shallower so players can compete for the ball and get some turnovers. Shonkies often kick so players can get there and compete for the ball.
Definitely a much nicer performance to watch not just relying on Gutho and having a lot more options. Kyle playing both side of the field and both halves linking a lot more in attack similar to the trials, can see it building which is nice but they need to keep doing it.The halves both had really good moments today, let’s be clear - they aren’t NRL top 8 standard halves.
But credit where it’s due they were much better than previous weeks.
Egan the cult hero love watching him play 150% effort on everything and full of heart, oh and don't forget the 47 tackles, outstanding!Still a bit too much side to side attack on some occasions for me, Flanagan should kick more, looks like he has been working on that, but all you can do is win. Young Egan was outstanding 79 min only came off as a result of an arm injury, 13 hit ups, 122m, 51m post contact, goes well for the future
Nah he copped 3 weeks so will still be out for this one, back for Anzac day.I believe Guler is back so if thats right he would have to be in the 17.
Confused by this, assuming you haven't watched it yet? Was much more impactful this game off the bench (also a worthy reward for Egan) provided a big lift at 25min in and immediately had impact with 2 back to back runs earning a penalty and setup a beautiful try.Bit worried by Luchs low numbers. Keep maintaining we need to get him into the middle to have him carrying and tackling more. For his mins 9 tackles is pissweak as are his constant low RMs. Compare them with fellow edgie S'ua.
Nope dodn't agree mate usually we do , Flanagan was never allowed to do anything when wonder boy was around ....... Kyle is always first to kick chases always around a break made ........ Ilias still very tentative to take the line on ....... Let's hope he steps up soon ........Other way round for me.
