Definitely got more first graders, that spine is gonna be challenging for us.. but lets see what happens on the day I guess.. or how many minutes they do, esp after they see our squad.
I am looking forward to seeing Reed, R Couchman, Fale, O'Neill, Fagalilo, Coutts, Hutchinson, Tsougranis, Heidke and Stanely-Traill get a run. I hope they all get at least 30 minutes game time

I misread Fletcher Hunt as Fletcher Sharp.. so thats 1 less gun.. though I reckon FHunt is a potential superstar winger, cant recall if we tried to sign him or not, but Knights extended him... but anyone that good in the air is frightening.

Edit: Crap.. Sharp is the 6 lol.. woops... both r playing.. will be a real test for our defence.
I just realised I didn't miss read it. Fletcher Sharpe is named at 5/8

Fuckwit? Why don’t you start posting well thought out posts rather than slamming the coach and his son in every f*cking thread, it’s boring. There’s a thread to whinge about them, go do it there
No one needs your permission to give his opinion on the make up of the team the coach has selected.

First post was fine. Don't think anyone disagrees. The next couple I think we can agree should've been in the other thread. That's the way I feel about it anyway.

I'm focusing on the postives. Reed and LKT playing together behind a very decent pack. That's what I'm excited about seeing. Also hoping a few of the reserves get some decent minutes. Specifically Heidke, Buchanan and hopefully CST and Hutchinson down there at No.23 and 24.

I posted the item below in the Other League thread in the Dragons Lair but thought I should add it here because it will apply to our first trial game against the Knights - The New Rule Changes for 2026:

The only problem with "the other league thread" is I don't think many people even read it. I don't read it.

I think in junior football, the team who scores should kick off. I remember when some junior teams, including ones I played in were very dominate and would score a try and then get the ball back and then score again and then again etc, which led to lopsided scores. I didn't think it was fair. I wouldn't even mind it they changed the rule for first grade too. Generally I am not a fan of changing the rules. There is no other sport who is constantly changing the rules of their game like the rugby league/NRL.

It is a tough game. You have to be robust and he seems to be that.
It is a very "tough" game. One of the toughest games there is. Most people aren't tough enough to play first grade. I don't think I would have been tough enough, (or good enough) to play first grade myself, especially when I was 19 years old. I didn't see King-Togia as robust, but I hope he takes benefit from his experience last year. I think one has to sort of enjoy the contact and physically of the game to play first grade. I couldn't imagine myself running as fast as I could into players such as Paul Harrigan, Mark Carroll, Ian Roberts, Peter Kelly, Mal Meninga etc and having them hitting you/ smashing you as hard as they could. Good halves should be taking on the line, taking the ball to the line, straightening up the attack and putting their body on the line to put other players into holes or giving them space to move and getting hit by players bigger and stronger than them. Thurston and Johns used to do it better than most. The game was even more brutal in the 70's and 80's and even earlier.

I try not to kid myself. First grade would have crushed me. But enjoying the contact sets players like Tsougranis apart. Got to have them in your team. The bulldogs and broncos have players like that across the park. It seems to be a (n understandable) failing in Sloan and has held him back.

Yes, my first thought was that the team list was the Cup team especially when I saw Sloan at 1.

It will certainly be an interesting game and I hope that the squad picked will come out on top.
I agree, Dave. With Sloan, every year I’m hoping he comes back stronger physically and mentally. I read somewhere that he’d been doing some boxing work, which might help him. Either way, he’ll need to make a significant step forward this season, or it will likely be his last in Dragons colours.

Get the f*ck over the whinging of Kyle and Sflano. It makes it so f*cking hard reading these forums when every second post is about KF & SF... FMD clean it up
I get your point RD but its a highly touchy and controversial subject atm plus there are threads dedicated to it. I dont know what other forums are doing but I'd imagine its the same there. To me there is only one way all this stops and that is for KF to perform but at least be given a chance to. The second part is if he doesn't he gets replaced by Flanno, he's got to get the chance to do that as well. There is nothing we can do about it so it just has to play out. As always as I have said before, if KF and Atkinson prove to be working then we have to be humble enough to also say well done lads.
