Round 9: St. George Illawarra v Wests Tigers

Yea this was particularly why I've been such a big supporter of his, he really picked up a lot of that slack and makes a big difference coming out of our end which sometimes goes unnoticed until you lose him and like you said can have a big snowball effect. Will be interesting to see how Allen goes, hope he has a good one, would love to see him get a try off Holmes at Magic round on his club debut.
One thing is certain. If he picks up a loose ball with no one in front of him, like Finau did last week, he'll be tackled from behind after not more than 15m. Might be able to do a good job running hard and making metres but not as if Finau didn't do any of that.

Was Lawson recruited to play reserve grade? Big, fast, been playing well and on the wing in reserve grade.

From the bits I've seen he's a bit rocks n diamonds. e.g. he was standing still for high balls & oppo winger would leap over him to catch it. His reads have been iffy too but he's a quick learner & puts his body on the line with carries. It's his first season playing league, no need to rush him right now. Give him some more time to iron out those inconsistencies & nail down his yardage game. Btw I don't think Finau should've been dropped & have my doubts over Allan as a winger but hope he plays well.

Give and take with strengths and weaknesses. Maybe his reading of the play in defence isn't as good but get him in the clear and he'll race away. Plus Allan has been playing centre. How could the coaching staff judge his reading on the play better than Lawson? Makes no sense to me at all. Why Finau was dropped, why Lawson isn't next in line but I guess the coaching staff knows something I don't.

Lose this game and it's time to start thinking about next year. Allan won't be there and Finau is also off contract, isn't he?

I would be extremely surprised if Benji didn't have a contingency plans for Flanagan playing 7 or being the actual game manager

i would be very surprised if LKT played 7, he's a running 6, either way I think Luai and Galvin will tear us a new one. We are going to have to do a lot of things right to get away with this one.

Join at a low time for the club. No one seems to have any idea what Flanno is thinking. Finau dropped after one game where he was far from the worst player and a 19 year-old 5/8 named to start at halfback. I can't make any sense of it.
Yep you are right Chris, now was KF any better than Illias, did Finau deserve another chance, there is an elephant in the room that no one is mentioning.

I'm worried about their props even more. No wonder they wanted to get rid of Klemmer. May is getting all the wraps but I think the other prop, Pole, is seriously good.

the more the merrier. We can start you in the middle. Basically jodragon40 jodragon40 is a master tipper. Not that the rest of us are bad, he's just been very good. We need someone to beat him.

Thanks Morgan, yeah I'll give it a shot, there is always someone that needs to come last :) What do I have to do ? And yes I agree with you about their props.

Dragons’ burning question:

Does axing Ilias heap even more pressure on Kyle Flanagan?

The call to drop Lachlan Ilias in favour of Lyhkan King-Togia in the halves will only intensify the pressure on Kyle Flanagan as the senior playmaker for the Dragons. Not only was Flanagan re-signed while Ben Hunt was released, now he is the most experienced playmaker in the team and needs to show more with his creativity.

Flanagan has been solid this season, but his strengths are his defence and running game, but he will need to create more try assists for his teammates and take over the kicking game from Ilias.

The Dragons sit 10th heading into Magic Round and the Tigers is a game they need to win if they are a hope of playing finals this season.

Kyle's strength is his running game? I think that says it all. But now the pressure is well and truly on. He has to pay back the faith his old man has put in him.

I think he'll play 7 and get the blame for a bad team performance. Next step is Gutho halfback.
