Been a long time comingGoodluck to corey on his club debut
So if the Dragons are tackled within 10m of the sideline, who will be standing closer to the play-the-ball, Flanagan or LKT?It is becoming more prevalent especially this season
Depends what side of the field your talking aboutSo if the Dragons are tackled within 10m of the sideline, who will be standing closer to the play-the-ball, Flanagan or LKT?
A bit like centres now, right and left not inside/outside.Depends what side of the field your talking about
LKT, the 19 year-old will have to do all the kicking, all the game management, provide all the creativity and if he doesn't do it very wellCoaching staff was too lazy to copy and paste "Kyle Flanagan" next to "7"? Maybe. Stranger things have happened under Flanno's watch.
he'll be dropped. Not sure, I had a look at Finau stats from last week's embarrassing loss:
ATTACK- 16 runs, 189m, 31m post contact, TB - 1, including that 1st half runaway try
DEFENCE- 2 tackles 1 missed
Again I'm perplexed
You also have to take into account the 80 meter pickup and run try off the Holmes tackle he made so you take that out and it's like 15 runs for 110ish metres. Personally (if it's not injury related) it just seems to be very evident we are really missing CTs 200 odd meter average full of the hard early set runs. We've struggled with getting stuck in our end since his injury and you need at least 1 winger doing those hard early carries out of trouble, keeping Sloan on one side means we need the other to be able to do a lot of that. Though I would've thought Lawson would've fit that model better so who knows regarding the Allen over him choice, but he's still strong and experienced and deserves a shot after last year's injury, goodluck to him.Not sure, I had a look at Finau stats from last week's embarrassing loss:

Whole team had a bad day. None more so than you-know-who. Though I guess for him and his fantastic catching and passing, it was a normal day. Flanno himself highlighted the lack of ball. How is Sione supposed to rack up the run metres if the team doesn't have the ball? You also have to take into account the 80 meter pickup and run try off the Holmes tackle he made so you take that out and it's like 15 runs for 110ish metres. DITTO Jo. FLANAGAN IS STARTING TO PISS ME OFF AGAIN!!!! His playing favorites is eroding our attacking potential. Allan, another of his boys and as fast as a drafthorse, takes the vacant wing spot that had to have gone to Finau. Jack benched when we need his leadership and specially defense for the first 40. Not to say Stewart isnt a promising player, but he is still in short pants. Holmes is playing great footy but the other two of our big buys need to step up big time and show us the leadership this side needs. Not sure, I had a look at Finau stats from last week's embarrassing loss:

Was surprised that he didn't at least get the next 2 weeks or whatever it is till CTs back which is why I first thought injury but guess not. I don't take the JDB to bench thing to mean anything, think he'll get the same minutes regardless. He played around with that rotation all last year as well and wouldn't be surprised if it gets tweaked on game day again.DITTO Jo. FLANAGAN IS STARTING TO PISS ME OFF AGAIN!!!! The defensive issues would be the biggest disappointment, hoping he gets some confidence up and starts backing himself more. Hopefully LKT grabs his chance with both hands and trusts himself to run. This is what I have said here about Ilias I haven't seen him run at all ....... G. Alexander (
Running game key to overcoming Ilias' slump
According to Alexander, the key issue lies in Ilias' approach to running the ball, with the former Rabbitohs halfback failing to utilise his running game to break through defences and provide an attacking spark.
"What has let Lachlan Ilias down has been game management," Alexander said. "He's had some good games, but they have been few and far between."
"Running solves a lot of problems for a half," he explained, urging all struggling halves to prioritise running the ball to find their rhythm.
Meanwhile, Ilias' defensive display has also come under the scanner. "There is just so much traffic being sent down Ilias' edge," said The Daily Telegraph's David Riccio, pointing to defensive lapses as another factor in his loss of form. Despite being a key playmaker, Ilias ranks last among the Dragons' playmakers for try assists and line-break assists, adding weight to calls for change.
With Lykhan King-Togia set to replace Ilias in the halves, the Dragons will be hoping a fresh combination can spark their attack as Ilias faces the challenge of rediscovering his best form.
LKT is a good improvisor but he aint the game manager we crave. His defense is suss too so opposition play makers will note this and send their attack down his side.Lykhan King-Togia set to replace Ilias in the halves, the Dragons will be hoping a fresh combination can spark their attack
In the game against Canberra last year, last round if my memory serves me correctly, he was heavily targeted in defence by Canberra but didn't miss a beat. It was the other side with Feagai and Hunt which couldn't make a tackle.LKT is a good improvisor but he aint the game manager we crave. No doubt Ilias needs to lift his overall game as half cops so much scrutiny and if you are below your best, so much flack. He definitely needs to give some time to the fundamentals a good half needs to succeed in the dog eat dog world of NRL. And his class room for the time being will have to be Ressies, which perhaps will give him the head space to just let himself go and play heads up footy.

Yea this was particularly why I've been such a big supporter of his, he really picked up a lot of that slack and makes a big difference coming out of our end which sometimes goes unnoticed until you lose him and like you said can have a big snowball effect. Will be interesting to see how Allen goes, hope he has a good one, would love to see him get a try off Holmes at Magic round on his club debut.Yea, our pack isn't weak at making meters & it was my reasoning to have both wingers as yardage specialist. Sloan has done better than expected in this area but I still have my doubts over him. CT was one of the best wingers in the comp & his loss like you've said has been massive. He masked over our yardage issues & made it easier for the other back 4 to gain yardage themselves. Basically a knock on effect & you can't win footy games if you get smashed in territory battle imo.
