Round 10: St. George Illawarra vs New Zealand Warriors

Dragons team:

  1. Clinton Gutherson
  2. Tyrell Sloan
  3. Moses Suli
  4. Valentine Holmes
  5. Corey Allan
  6. Kyle Flanagan
  7. Lyhkan King-Togia
  8. Toby Couchman
  9. Damien Cook
  10. David Klemmer
  11. Dylan Egan
  12. Jaydn Su’A
  13. Hamish Stewart
  14. Jacob Liddle
  15. Jack de Belin
  16. Luciano Leilua
  17. Loko Jnr Pasifiki Tonga

Good call re No.17 but No.2 after that defensive effort not dropped after was dropped Finau because of his defence in the game before makes non sense at all. No.5 goes ok but not as a first grade winger. Too slow and unlike CT, not powerful enough to make a lot of running metres despite lack of speed.
No. 6🤡..... I think Flanno has told club power-brokers that his fate is tied to No.6 and Flanno won't drop him. If they want him out of they team they should sack Flanno.
Earlier this week I mentioned young Tonga off the bench to get limited minutes but to add some much needed size against the Warriors. It's nice the coach read my post

I know we are short on troops up front but young Couchman needs a break in my view based on personal experience

With Guler out, Tonga is next man up.. Toby is just gonna have to be based on his situation.. we cant afford to lose him, it means Lawrie or MMolo.. but it is what it is.. young bloke is never doing 27 rounds even best case scenario.
To my old coaches eyes young Couchman is feeling the effects of the high impact contacts and his last 2 games have been below par and surely he is carrying an injury or two. It would be sad to see him to continue to struggle. I know we are a bit thin in the props area but JDB could fill in whilst the young fella recovers. We shouldnt be sacrificing him . Just my views

Yep, totally agree, its a good way to burn a young fella out, I've already resided myself to thinking we are going to be nowhere near the top 8 anyway.

What a damn shame Ryan Couchman got that knee injury, would have been a massive help having the 2 brothers in the middle carving up

I will say I’ve been skeptic so of Hamish Stewart but I think his game against the tigers was great and showed the high end player he could become, he’s a bit more dynamic than I expected

Even the try he scored looked like rookie season Cameron Murray

The good thing about the young boys atm is this SHOULD be the worst version of themselves and they’ll in all likelihood be much better players this time in 2026

Would be great to get a W against the warriors this week with so many young fellas in the lineup, would be a real confidence boost beating a top 4 side

Well I've put my faith in our youth and have tipped us to score a surprise but close win over the Warriors. There is no substitute for experience buy youthful enthusiasm can bring something special to the table especially in front of a home crowd. Time will tell

Yeah I always hope, but then the reality of being a long time Dragons fan sets in :)
With the right selections I believe top 8 is very possible but with Kyle Flanagan in the team and Allan and Sloan keeping Lawson and Finau out of the team, I can't tip them for a win. Not in any game unless the other team has a lot of their best players out.

It's tough being a lifetime supporter but the future looks brighter than it has for at least the last 7 yrs. I'm banking on youthful exuberance against the Warriors. Time will tell

Just seen a poll of QLD fans voting Holmes and Hamiso as their favorite centres combo for QLD this year.

so based off that it got me thinking, what’s the best route for us to go if Holmes misses games for us through origin.

I’ve though since the start of the season that our centres are one of the worst positions depth wise.

interested to hear what people think we’ll do with homes out, I reckon they’ll go with Allan at left centre and Tuipolotu/Finau left wing
