You think so? With his frame, as it is now, in the front line for defence, probably being called on to make 5 times the number of tackles he makes at fullback....... I don't like it. I'd put Sloan on the wing, straight swap for Lawson and leave Ramsey where he is.

Cody will still go good at ctr though.. mind you that causes issue with developing centres (Heidke/Buchanan) but it is what it is. It makes me nervous though because Sloan to my eye was exactly the same player in NSW Cup that he was in 1sts, the same lack of effort to chase or put his body into tackles, the same highlights and lowlights.. the only difference was the stakes werent as high in reserve grade, and he tended to play accordingly, usually grubbering first before taking a tackle.

Rly keen to see if we are serious about replacing him for 2026 (this assumes we can sell him), there are a few young guns out there at clubs like Manly and Newcastle, but they arent going to come here by accident, we would have to really go after that outcome and pay them accordingly... and I havent really seen Flanno take initiative in this space bar chasing middles.

My question is Rev. if the rumours are right about Sloan then why can’t Ramsay be the back up fullback. Risky I know but something has to happen in that space.

totally agree mate. It still leaves us with a problem moving forward. If Sloan is not the answer then who is. I know Ramsay wouldn’t let us down and hopefully we wouldn’t need him until next year perhaps. So if Cody is occupying a space without a future then what is the plan ?

Gutho is for this year and next. Might be a bit too slow for modern fullbacks by 2027 but even if that's the case, he's not going to be rubbish. Club has a while to sort it out. If Gutho is injured, Ramsey will hopefully be ok to play first grade from next year.

I think the fb position has a bit of depth in the NRL. Imo we should be able to pinch a younger fb in the off-season. If we lose Gutho this year then we're in an iffy spot. Either Holmes to fb or Sloan, prefer Holmes but then who will become our centre? Very tricky.

I would hate to see Lawson in the clear and get run down when I know Sloan has the pace. But on the other hand I hate seeing lack of effort in tackles and meagre returns from kicks.

Sloane has gone ok on the wing, but still has some defensive issues. Flanno will probably stick with him. But on the other hand Lawson is his signing and pet project…

Sloan's commitment is his biggest problem and it just hasn't changed. He's not getting rag dolled as much, but of the very few times he gets through the line providing he doesn't drop the ball and scores, his defensive woes way outweigh the good. Flanno loves defence and commitment, that's why it has to be Lawson and CT on the wings.

I think I’m at the end of it Chris. The will he or won’t he the constant waiting game the Gutho mentoring the flashes of brilliance and the sheer dismal effort. Let’s just get a plan stick to it and let that team be. I feel sorry for Sloan and been one of his most avid supporters but it’s time and we can’t afford to carry or wait to see what happens any longer.

Was it just me being harsh but with Sloan’s bombed try, I thought he was way too relaxed and just thought he’d coast in for a try. Poor attitude in my eyes that play
